Arsenal target responds to rumours of record summer transfer
One of Manchester United’s summer transfer targets has responded to speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League after the strong interest materialising in him.
United are looking to splash the cash and continue building their squad this summer, with investment expected in midfield, attack and in defence.
In particular, United are keen to sign a left-back which has led to interest in Nathaniel Brown after his impressive performances for Eintracht Frankfurt this season.
The likes of Arsenal and Manchester City are also believed to be taking an interest in Brown and the 22-year-old admitted he was aware of the speculation when asked about it by Sport BILD this week.
“Yes, you do pick up on things like that, but it doesn’t influence me. I’m concentrating on the goals that are within my control. Nothing else interests me right now,” Brown said.
“My focus is entirely on Eintracht and our goal of qualifying for Europe. And after that, I would really love to be part of the World Cup squad. Then, I’ll see what happens in the summer. It’s hard to make plans in football, which is why I don’t dwell on it.”
Brown could break world record fee for left-back transfer with summer transfer to Premier League
Brown has established himself as a standout defender in the Bundesliga since joining Frankfurt in 2024 and his performances have led to him being capped by Germany with the expectation that he will be the country’s starting left-back at the 2026 World Cup this summer.
A positive display during the tournament could see Brown’s reputation grow even further and lead to a price tag far exceeding his current Expected Transfer Value (ETV) of €39 million, with a departure from Frankfurt expected during the summer.
It was suggested to Brown that he could even eclipse the world record fee paid for a left-back, which is currently held by Marc Cucurella after his €65.3m move to Chelsea in 2022.
“That's a really staggering sum,” Brown responded when the figure was put to him. “But frankly, I'm not thinking about figures like that or a transfer in the summer at all.”
