Chelsea Transfer News Today: Van Hecke says yes to move as €70m verdict drops
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Jan Paul van Hecke, Robin Roefs and Alejandro Garnacho.
Van Hecke says yes to transfer
Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke is keen to leave the South Coast club this summer, Voetbal International reports.
The Netherlands international has been heavily linked with Chelsea in recent days and is thought to be a key target for the Blues, who are determined to strengthen their defence with Premier League experience after this season.
Brighton wanted to extend the Dutchman's contract, which currently expires in 2027, but Van Hecke has made it clear that he wants a fresh challenge this summer. As a result, the Seagulls will have to sell to avoid losing him for nothing.
Roefs dismisses Chelsea rumours
Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs has rubbished reports that he could be set to join Chelsea for €70 million this summer.
The Blues' goalkeeper department continues to be the subject of speculation, with Robert Sanchez having failed to impress since joining the club in 2023. Roefs has been touted as a potential replacement after starring for the Black Cats.
However, he says that "it's not really the time to think about these things like moving or any rumours." He added: "As long as I don't know anything about it, I just keep on going."
Sanchez to leave?
Robert Sanchez's departure from Chelsea is becoming a "strong possibility," TEAMtalk claims.
The under-fire No.1 is expected to lose his place to young Mike Penders in pre-season. The Belgian has impressed on loan at sister club Strasbourg and is poised to become the Blues' new first-choice shot-stopper.
Sanchez, it is claimed, will not accept being a backup and could look to leave the club after three years during which he has repeatedly been criticised as not good enough for Chelsea.
Garnacho facing the axe?
Alejandro Garnacho has caused a stir by removing all Chelsea content from his personal TikTok page, while reposting two videos dedicated to his time at Man Utd.
The Argentina international has endured an inconsistent and underwhelming first season at Stamford Bridge, which is likely to result in him missing out on World Cup participation.
Furthermore, it could mean that Chelsea yet again dip into the market to sign a new left-winger this summer, having only bought Garnacho and the equally disappointing Jamie Gittens last summer. It has been suggested that Garnacho could be offloaded after just one year.
Lampard wants Derry
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard is keen to sign Chelsea youngster Jesse Derry on a season-long loan this summer, as per TEAMtalk.
The 18-year-old has impressed in the Chelsea youth set-up since joining from Crystal Palace last year, which has seen him rewarded with two FA Cup appearances by Liam Rosenior.
Coventry look set to return to the Premier League and want to bring in Derry, but it is asserted that Chelsea are unwilling to make a decision on the youngster's future anytime soon, as they believe he could earn a regular first-team spot over the next 12 months.
Badiashile to leave
Benoit Badiashile is highly likely to leave Chelsea this summer after falling out of favour under Liam Rosenior.
The Frenchman has now gone eight Premier League games without playing, while he also missed the club's FA Cup game against Port Vale despite returning to full team training after illness ahead of the game.
With Badiashile omitted from the matchday squad against Man City, it is expected that the centre-back will be sold this summer, having been linked with an exit for several transfer windows.
