Chelsea Transfer News Today: Rogers talks confirmed as Rosenior sack stance revealed
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Morgan Rogers and Liam Rosenior.
Morgan Rogers talks
Chelsea have reportedly made enquiries with Morgan Rogers’ representatives about a potential summer move for the Aston Villa superstar.
The England international is one of the Blues’ top targets for the upcoming transfer window and it has been reported that a fee close to €100 million will be required to tempt Unai Emery’s side into a sale.
Rogers signed a new six-year contract at Villa Park in November, but he continues to be linked with an exit and it has been widely reported that he is open to leaving the club this summer, a stance that will intensify if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
Chelsea have been considered to be Rogers’ most likely destination for the past 12 months, and Liam Rosenior’s side are understood to be in talks with Rogers’ camp as they look to finalise a summer agreement, as per Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri.
Liam Rosenior sack stance
Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is under pressure following the Blues’ 3-0 Premier League loss to Manchester City, but Fabrizio Romano insists he remains safe at Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea are still backing Liam Rosenior, this is the message from the club after the match today,” the transfer insider reports on his YouTube channel.
“They don’t forget he arrived in January and had no pre-season. It will be important to understand how Chelsea end the rest of the season, its results-based industry, but at the moment as of now, the message is ‘we want to trust this manager’.”
Josh Acheampong to Bayern Munich?
Josh Acheampong is on Bayern Munich’s transfer radar and the Bundesliga giants are closely monitoring his progress at Chelsea amid his lack of game time in recent weeks.
However, Christian Falk has confirmed that a move won’t be explored this summer unless Kim min-jae decides to leave the Allianz Arena.
If Kim accepts his current role as a back-up option to Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah next season, then a move for Acheampong reportedly won’t be pursued by Bayern bosses, although they are keen admirers of the Chelsea youngster.
Mohammed Kudus interest
Chelsea missed out on signing Mohammed Kudus last summer, with the Ghana star opting to join Tottenham Hotspur instead, but they remain interested in his services.
That is according to Fichajes, who claim that Chelsea and Manchester United are both eyeing a possible swoop for Kudus if Spurs are relegated down to the Championship this season.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side are now in the relegation zone following a 1-0 loss to Sunderland on Sunday and Kudus could be set to leave the club after just one season, with Chelsea among the teams ready to pursue a shock summer deal.
Marcos Senesi latest
Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi is exploring the possibility of joining another Premier League club on a Bosman deal this summer amid interest from Chelsea, as per BBC Sport.
The Argentina international is set to become a free agent when his current deal with Andoni Iraola’s side expires at the end of June and Chelsea are believed to be among the frontrunners for his signature as they look to sign a new central defender.
Several European clubs have also been linked with Senesi, but they are yet to finalise a pre-contract agreement and his camp are now looking to negotiate a move to one of Bournemouth’s English top flight rivals.
Senesi has started in 31 of Bournemouth’s 32 league fixtures so far this term, with his only absence coming due to suspension, and he is one of several centre-backs on Chelsea’s radar, which also includes Murillo and Jan Paul van Hecke.
