Out of contract in 2026: The best free agents available on a Bosman

The January window has shut, but clubs are able to negotiate pre-contracts for European players whose deals expire in the summer of 2026.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jonathan David and Kevin De Bruyne were three big names who ran down their contracts and joined new clubs on a Bosman transfer in the summer of 2025.

And in 2026 there are some more huge names who are due to become free agents.

In the Premier League, Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate is available for nothing. Harry Maguire's future is uncertain amid talks to extend his contract at Man Utd, while Casemiro has already announced that he will depart the club.

In La Liga, Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski and Real Madrid's Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and Dani Carvajal have their contracts run out. Lewandowski and Alaba will almost certainly leave their respective clubs.

In Serie A, Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic and Paulo Dybala of Roma are among the big names whose contracts expire. Roma talisman Lorenzo Pellegrini is also set to leave.

Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka and Germany legend Manuel Neuer are on expiring contracts. Goretzka has announced his exit, but Neuer can freely decide whether he wants to extend, leave or retire.

Borussia Dortmund have announced that Julian Brandt will not have his contract extended, but captain Emre Can is expected to receive fresh terms after suffering an ACL injury.
