Man Utd Transfer News Today: Nico Williams demands €90m Red Devils move after agreement reached
All the latest Man Utd transfer news in one place, including updates on Nico Williams, Julian Naglesmann and Noah Sadiki.
Nico Williams 'asks to join Man Utd'
Having been strongly linked to the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona throughout his career, Williams has remained loyal to his boyhood club and signed a bumper new contract with the Basque side last year, keeping him in Bilbao until 2035.
Catalan outlet El Nacional have claimed that Williams is now ready to take the next step in his career and has informed Athletic of his intention to leave this summer in the hopes of joining United.
It is stated that Williams sees a move to Old Trafford as the ‘ideal’ destination as he would play an important role for United as a replacement for Marcus Rashford if the forward completes his permanent move to Barcelona.
Athletic Club are said to have ‘no intention’ of facilitating Williams’ departure, although the situation could change if the Spanish international insists on leaving and an offer close to his €90 million release clause is received.
Naglesmann targeted to replace Carrick
Interim head coach Michael Carrick remains the most likely candidate to be handed the job this summer, but his chances were dented following the club’s 2-1 defeat to Leeds United on Monday night.
In the aftermath of the defeat to Leeds, GiveMeSport have revealed that Man Utd officials are set to formally approach Nagelsmann this month, with the Germany boss ready to return to club management following this summer’s World Cup.
It’s claimed that Nagelsmann is keen to join a Premier League club ahead of the 2026-27 season and Man Utd have earmarked him as an alternative to Carrick, who remains the bookies’ odds-on favourite to be appointed as Ruben Amorim’s permanent successor as things stand.
RB Leipzig captain eyed after scouting trip
Manchester United have been watching a second RB Leipzig star after Yan Diomande, with defender David Raum also thought to be impressing onlooking scouts.
Raum put in a man-of-the-match display this weekend in front of scouts from United and Liverpool, according to TEAMtalk, and the Leipzig captain could have played his way into a Premier League transfer.
United are in the market for a new left-back and, with 12 months remaining on Raum’s deal, the 27-year-old is seen as an attractive option due to his experience, leadership and attacking quality.
Sadiki added to midfield shortlist
United are also tracking Noah Sadiki as a potential target for their midfield this summer after his impressive debut campaign for Sunderland.
The 21-year-old joined the Mackems last summer for €17m and he has been a key player in defensive midfield, prompting interest from a number of Premier League sides.
While Sunderland do not wish to let their young star leave, interest from United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham could test their resolve, according to TEAMtalk.
Bayindir set for exit
Backup goalkeeper Atlay Bayindir is believed to have agreed a move away from Manchester United this summer after failing to break into the first team.
Bayindir joined United in 2023 for €5m but he has made just ten league appearances during his time with the club and has grown frustrated with his lack of opportunities.
According to reports in Turkey, Besiktas have reached an agreement in principle to sign Bayindir after failing to sign him in January, with talks said to be positiviely progressing over a fee with United.
