Celtic make EXCITING move to bring Italy U21 star to Glasgow
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seeking to bolster his attacking options before the beginning of the Scottish Premiership season by raiding Serie A champions Napoli for Italy U21 star Giuseppe Ambrosino.
The Hoops have already recruited significantly this summer, snapping up exciting winger Benjamin Nygren from Nordsjaelland and Hayato Inamura from Albirex Niigata as well as welcoming back Kieran Tierney.
Now Rodgers is moving to add one of Italy’s most promising young talents to his ranks, Sky Sports reports.
“Celtic have made an enquiry for Napoli striker Giuseppe Ambrosino,” it reports.
“It’s understood the Hoops are exploring the conditions of a loan deal, with an option to buy, for the Italy U21 international.
“Ambrosino, 21, is said to be keen on a move to the Scottish champions.”
How good is Gianluca Ambrosino?
Ambrosino has primarily played his football in Serie B, where he operated as a centre-forward for Frosinone last season. He scored five goals and generated four assists across 37 appearances for the second-tier side.
Despite this relatively modest return in front of goal, his overall performance levels were rated among the best in the league by data analytics firm SciSports.

Giuseppe Ambrosino: Playing style
The experts believe that he has the potential to become a first-team starter at Parkhead, although for the moment, it is predicted that he is only likely to be a supporting player for the current squad.
Depth is certainly something that Celtic could use at centre-forward, with Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah the tried-and-tested senior options in that area.
The Hoops’ interest in Ambrosino, meanwhile, would suggest that Johnny Kenny could be on his way out of Celtic Park, despite the young Irishman getting several opportunities to shine at the end of last term.
