Chelsea stunned as Real Madrid attempt Jude Bellingham transfer repeat
Real Madrid have reportedly added eight English wonderkids to their transfer wishlist as they look to repeat the success of Jude Bellingham’s move to the Bernabeu in 2023.
Bellingham, 22, joined Los Blancos for a fee of €113 million following a stellar stint with Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid officials have now set their sights on signing at least another England starlet.
That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, who claim that Tottenham Hotspur star Archie Gray is firmly on Real Madrid’s radar ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window.
The England U21 international, who is capable of playing at full-back or in central midfield, has caught the eye since his arrival at Spurs and his form has reportedly attracted the attention of Real Madrid scouts.
A formal approach has not yet taken place, but the Spanish giants are interested in a potential move for the 19-year-old, in addition to a number of other talented England youngsters.
In fact, as per TEAMtalk, Real Madrid are currently keeping close tabs on Arsenal duo Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman, Manchester City wonderkid Nico O’Reilly, Wolverhampton Wanderers starlet Mateus Mane, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Jude, and Chelsea duo Josh Acheampong and Jesse Derry.
According to an unnamed source, Real Madrid are “determined to keep close tabs on the best young players in England [and] the pathway has been made by Bellingham.”
Real Madrid chase Chelsea duo
News of Real Madrid’s interest in both Acheampong and Derry will come as a hammer blow to Chelsea fans, especially given their club have been eager to sell academy graduates on permanent deals to generate ‘pure profit’ in recent years.
Acheampong has attracted interest from virtually every top European club in recent years, amid his lack of first-team game time, and his long-term future at Stamford Bridge remains in major doubt ahead of this summer.
Meanwhile, Derry was handed his senior debut against Hull City this month after impressing for Chelsea’s U21 side, but he is yet to force his way into Liam Rosenior’s thinking in the Premier League.
An exit in 2026 is unlikely, given he only arrived from Crystal Palace last summer, but Derry could feasibly look to leave in the not-too-distant future, especially if Chelsea target another left winger as expected.
