Bruno Guimaraes contact

Manchester United have opened informal talks with Bruno Guimaraes’ representatives ahead of a potential pursuit this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Red Devils are actively searching for at least one new central midfielder following confirmation that Casemiro will depart when his contract expires in July, and they have now added Guimaraes to their shortlist.

That is according to a report from Spanish publication AS, who claim that Man Utd have initiated “informal contact” with the entourages of Newcastle duo Sandro Tonali and Guimaraes. Casemiro has even recommended the signing of the latter, as per the report.

It’s understood that nothing has yet been finalised, while Newcastle will reportedly only permit one of their star midfielders to depart the club ahead of the 2026-27 season as they look to mount a charge for European football next term.

Marcus Rashford ‘double sacrifice’

Marcus Rashford has agreed personal terms with Barcelona, taking a massive wage cut to join the Catalan side from Man Utd on a permanent basis.

While the performances of the 28-year-old have impressed those at Camp Nou, there were fears that a deal would be impossible, unless the attacker agreed to a wage cut that TEAMtalk says he has agreed to.

Currently, Man Utd are still paying a portion of his salary - and the Catalans could not afford to take this on.

However, he has agreed to take a wage cut and, in addition to this, he has also agreed that he will forego certain bonus payments to make the move easier to conduct.

Bruno Fernandes latest

Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes continues to be linked with a lucrative transfer to Saudi Arabia, but there is no guarantee that he will be on the move this summer.

In fact, TEAMtalk claim that the more time passes, the less likely it looks that Fernandes will leave Man Utd this summer.

The Portugal international is loving life under Michael Carrick, while the Man Utd hierarchy is delighted with his impact. Accordingly, all parties appear to be on the same page that this working relationship needs to continue beyond this season.

Nothing will be fully decided until the two parties sit down to discuss Fernandes' future after this season, but it “increasingly” looks as though he will remain at Old Trafford, having become “pivotal” to Man Utd's current run of results as well as their planning for next season.

Michael Carrick update

Michael Carrick is looking increasingly likely to be appointed as the next permanent Man Utd boss following an extremely encouraging spell as interim manager, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He told his YouTube channel: “The atmosphere around the squad is excellent and the players are very happy with Carrick.

“It does not mean anything has been decided for summer 2026 in terms of the permanent manager. But week after week, the feeling around Carrick is increasingly positive.

“When Manchester United decided to part ways with Ruben Amorim and give Carrick the opportunity, they expected him to do well – but not at this level.

“Now, internally, there is a feeling that Carrick could really have a chance to become the next permanent manager. It is not decided, but the opportunity is there and he is surprising everyone at the club.”
