Chelsea Transfer News Today: Rodrygo bid submitted as Romano confirms decision
FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Rodrygo and Nicolas Jackson.
Rodrygo bid submitted
Chelsea have lodged an opening offer worth a total of €70 million for Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo, as per a bombshell report from Spanish outlet Fichajes.
It’s claimed that an initial fee worth €60m has been proposed by the Blues, with an additional €10m in potential bonus payments.
Real Madrid are yet to respond to the offer, although the club’s management are reportedly set to analyse the proposal over the coming weeks as they contemplate a possible sale.
Fichajes state that Chelsea have informed Rodrygo that he will become a key attacking player at Stamford Bridge and they have reportedly promised him significant game time. However, a deal hasn’t been finalised and Rodrygo is yet to discuss personal terms with the west London giants.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Nicolas Jackson decision
Nicolas Jackson is set to return to Chelsea this summer, with Bayern Munich deciding against signing him on a permanent deal.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who told his YouTube channel: “Nico Jackson will not stay at Bayern in the summer transfer window. Bayern paid more than €15 million as a loan fee, but the player is expected to return to Chelsea.
“Chelsea and the player’s camp will assess opportunities on the market. In Italy, Jackson is appreciated, and there will also be opportunities in England and Spain. At the moment, I am not aware of Chelsea having a clear plan for him to return and stay.
“If a good opportunity arrives, from a technical and financial point of view, there is a chance Chelsea could sell Jackson in the summer.”
AC Milan want Jackson
AC Milan are interested in signing Chelsea outcast Nicolas Jackson after his Bayern loan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, with the Rossoneri once again desperately looking for a striker.
The No.9 position has given the Rossoneri headaches for years, and neither Santiago Gimenez nor Chelsea flop Christopher Nkunku has been a satisfactory solution for the Serie A giants.
Heading into the summer, Milan are once more drawing up a striker shortlist that contains prominent names. In addition to Jackson, Borussia Dortmund forward Serhou Guirassy and Al-Qadsiah star Mateo Retegui are regarded as priorities, while out-of-favour Al-Hilal striker Darwin Nunez could also become an option.
Jackson is attractive for two reasons. For one, Milan director Igli Tare already held talks with Chelsea and the player's camp last summer. Furthermore, it is clear that Chelsea want to get rid of him.
Darwin Nunez to join?
Chelsea may reportedly be willing to offer Darwin Nunez a second chance in the Premier League this summer.
Nunez found himself pushed out of Anfield by Arne Slot after a disappointing return of 40 goals in 143 matches for the Reds and has been exiled at Al-Hilal following the arrival of Karim Benzema.
It’s not exactly the type of CV that should attract a club with the stature of Chelsea, yet according to the Newcastle Chronicle, the Blues are ready to offer Newcastle competition in a transfer race for the 26-year-old.
Chelsea, it seems, sense an opportunity to bolster their misfiring options at centre-forward. Specifically, it seems to be Liam Delap who is under threat. He has struggled to settle since joining from Ipswich last summer and is being strongly linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge already.
Mykhailo Mudryk truth
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has sparked speculation that he is training with non-league side Uxbridge FC after posting footage of himself doing some drills at the club's Honeycroft ground.
However, according to Ben Jacobs, Mudryk is not in any way affiliated with the club, which is located not far from his home in Fulham. He has simply rented their ground to train.
Uxbridge, though they own the facilities, want to be "a positive influence and location for all in the local community" and are groundsharing with other clubs and athletes.
"Understand Mykhailo Mudryk is not training with Uxbridge FC," Jacobs reports. "He has simply rented their 3G surface, separate from both the non-league club and Chelsea. This has been booked via Mudryk’s own team. Nothing has been organised by Chelsea or could be under the terms of his ban."
