Real Madrid to sign Enzo Fernandez if ONE thing happens
Real Madrid will sign Enzo Fernandez if Chelsea are severely punished by The FA for 74 rule breaches during the Roman Abramovich era, according to a bombshell report in Spain.
These possible infringements took place before BlueCo purchased the club, but Chelsea still stand to be punished. However, as the Blues self-reported the issue, it’s believed The FA may issue a slightly more lenient sanction than initially anticipated.
A hefty fine is expected to be issued to Chelsea, although they could potentially be given a transfer ban or a points deduction if their breaches are deemed severe.
With Chelsea now locked in a legal battle with The FA, reports in Spain claim that Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on the situation as they look to finally agree a deal to bring the aforementioned Fernandez to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid?
Fernandez has been on Real Madrid’s radar for several years and they were eager to sign him before his Premier League record move to Chelsea following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Although they missed out on his signature to the Blues, Los Blancos have kept tabs on his progress ever since and he has been continually linked with a move to the Spanish capital in recent months, despite the fact his current Chelsea contract doesn’t expire until 2032.
However, a possible sanction to Chelsea could result in Fernandez finally completing a blockbuster move to the 15-time Champions League winners.
That is according to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, who have even gone as far as saying: “Real Madrid will sign Enzo Fernandez if the FA sanctions Chelsea severely.”
Xabi Alonso is determined to sign a new central midfielder in 2026 and Fernandez is seen as the club’s priority target as they believe he is the perfect fit to strengthen the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu.
