Chelsea target drops UNDENIABLE transfer hint
Chelsea target Fermin Lopez has dropped an undeniable hint that confirms he has no intention of leaving Barcelona to join the reigning Club World Cup champions.
The Spain international was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer and Chelsea reportedly submitted two separate bids to Barcelona in an attempt to secure his signature before the end of Transfer Deadline Day.
However, Hansi Flick’s side were unwilling to sanction a sale and Fermin never pushed to leave Camp Nou, despite only starting 12 La Liga games last season amid immense competition for places in the Blaugrana first-team.
After missing out on Fermin this summer, Chelsea opted to sign Brighton & Hove Albion star Facundo Buonanotte on a season-long loan deal, but he is seen as a temporary fix and he was even excluded from their Champions League squad for the 2025-26 campaign.
Signing a new attacking midfielder is therefore set to become a priority once again next year and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Fermin will remain on Chelsea’s radar when the January transfer window opens.
However, the 22-year-old revealed his desire to stay at Barcelona during their 6-0 victory over Valencia.

Fermin Lopez wants to stay at Barcelona
Fermin was included in Barcelona’s starting XI to face Valencia on Sunday evening and he rewarded the aforementioned Flick with his first two goals of the season.
The Spaniard opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a neat close-range finish following an excellent third-man run, while his second was a stunning left-footed effort from outside the box.
While both goals were impressive, his celebration following his first goal was arguably even more noteworthy.
After putting Barcelona 1-0 up, Fermin pointed at himself and then the ground to indicate his desire to stay. He then kissed the Barcelona badge on his shirt to reiterate that he doesn’t want to leave Camp Nou to join Chelsea.
