Villarreal have their sights on Donny van de Beek as a potential addition for 2024, according to the latest reports.

Spanish outlet Fichajes has released news that the club are looking at the Manchester United midfield ahead of the January window.

Van de Beek is currently under contract until 2025 at Old Trafford, but he has been informed that he is not in manager Erik ten Hag’s plans and must try and find a new club.

The Yellow Submarine believe it’s a viable signing given that he is surplus to requirements for his current club.

Villarreal are reportedly aware of the situation and keeping a close eye on the situation ahead of the winter window.

The Dutchman joined Man Utd back in 2020 but since then has only featured in 34 Premier League matches, while he is yet to make an appearance this season.

Van de Beek has been hampered by injuries - as well as poor form - while he has been regularly linked with a move from Man Utd.

Over the summer window, clubs from Turkey and France tried to sign the 26-year-old - the player was closest to a move to Ligue 1 outfit Lorient, but a deal never materialised.

Van de Beek has been snubbed in favour of the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Scott McTominay, and Christian Eriksen, all whom Ten Hag prefers over the former Ajax man.

Van de Beek was asked about his future earlier this summer, amid the speculation. He replied: “ “For now, it’s hard to say where my future is.

“I’ve come back now after injury and I’m fit now, so I play my first minutes after training for a few weeks, so I try to push as hard as possible.”
