Neymar tipped for 'MSN' reunion with Messi and Suarez at Inter Miami
Neymar has been tipped for a sensational reunion with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami.
The three South Americans formed one of the greatest front threes the world has ever seen at Barcelona.
Dubbed 'MSN', the trio helped Barcelona to a famous treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and the Champions League in 2015 and altogether won nine trophies during their time together.
The trio were eventually broken up after Neymar completed his world-record €222 million transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
The Brazilian would subsequently complete a lucrative move to Saudi Arabi with Al-Hilal but now finds himself back in his homeland with Santos. After suffering a cruciate ligament injury a couple of years ago, he has been fighting to prove his fitness to Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
After that, he suggested he could retire, but one compatriot wants to see an MSN reunion in Major League Soccer.
“Neymar has gone through so many tough moments in his life, He has had so many injuries, and he tried to come back to play football," former Manchester United midfielder Kleberson told GOAL.
"All these injuries doesn`t help him, but also his life outside of the football pitch doesn`t really help him. He has so much stuff going on, also speaking on the commercial aspect. He tries really hard, but after the surgery it has been tough to take care of his body. Obviously, the World Cup is probably too soon for him.
“But we will have to remember that we are speaking about Neymar. Neymar, even at 70 or 80%, is a fantastic footballer. He is not a guy who needs to be on 100% to play on a good level. I don`t really see many other players with his qualities. He is the only player, maybe Ronaldinho as well, who can play like this. I think he is the only one right now.
“The injury has put him and his career down, but I really don`t think he will retire. I think he can come to the MLS to play. Playing in Brazil has been tough for him, because there is a lot of pressure on his shoulders. People are expecting him to be the Neymar version of 2010. But he is getting old now and he has a different life. I hope he can continue playing and doing well for Brazil. I think it would be great to see him in the MLS.
“Ideally, you would want to see Neymar, Suarez and Messi again together at Inter Miami. Those guys together would be top class, also for the MLS.
“MLS is also business and the business side with David Beckham would be amazing. Even if they are not in great shape, everyone would love to see them. The American fans want to see it. Those players together would be massive. Truly massive.”
Messi and Suarez recently helped Inter Miami to their first-ever MLS Cup. Another former Barcelona star Sergio Busquets recently retired from the club which opened up a Designated Player spot, which has been taken by Rodrigo De Paul.
So, if Neymar is to arrive, the club may have to get inventive with his registration.
Could Neymar retire?
Neymar previously suggested that this could be his last season of football.
Neymar celebrated his 34th birthday earlier this month, but the forward appears to have little intention of following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi by playing too much longer.
Indeed, in an interview with Caze TV, the Santos attacker has indicated that he could call time on his career following the 2026 World Cup.
“I don’t know what the future holds,” Neymar admitted.
“I don’t know what next year will bring. It’s possible that in December I’ll want to retire. I’m taking it one day at a time now.
“This year is very important, not only for Santos, but also for the Brazilian national team, because it’s the World Cup year.
“For me too, it’s a huge challenge. I’m taking it one day at a time. I don’t know what the future holds, I don’t know what next year will bring.
“It’s possible that in December I’ll want to retire, but it will be a decision that comes from the heart. I’m taking it one day at a time. We’re moving forward little by little.”
