Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has been hospitalised after fainting amid a brawl between his two wives.

According to the publication Al-Arabiya, Hassan was at a hotel in the North Coast of Egypt when his two wives, Howaida Al-Gharbawi and Dan Adam, became involved in an argument that turned physical.

The emotional stress from the incident led to him losing consciousness and he subsequently had to be taken to the hospital.

The incident quickly went viral on social media.

Al-Arabiya reports that onlookers were stunned as Al-Gharbawi and Adam exchanged accusations about their respective relationships with Hassan before punches, pushes and kicks started to be thrown.

Hassan and a number of those present attempted to break up the brawl.

It has emerged as one of the biggest news stories in Egypt over the past week and the fallout is still being felt as Hassan has made the decision to divorce his first wife, Al-Gharbawi.

Don't expect the scandal to reveal any details about their relationship, though, as she reportedly told reporters that "the secrets of the house will remain inside and will not leave it even after the divorce."

Hassan has been Egypt’s national team manager since February 2024. His tenure has generally been successful, with Egypt qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

At the 2025 AFCON, Egypt reached the semi-finals, while at the 2026 World Cup, he guided the nation to their first World Cup 92 years after their debut and a place in the round of 16.

Overall, his tenure has been marked by strong results and significant progress, although his emotional style and tactical decisions have sometimes attracted criticism.
