Chelsea are running out of time to offload Axel Disasi on a permanent deal before Transfer Deadline Day, but reports suggest that a move away from the club is now “close.”

The Frenchman was expected to leave Stamford Bridge last summer, after falling out of favour under Enzo Maresca, but Chelsea were unable to reach an agreement with any interested parties and he was left in limbo until January.

Disasi failed to make a single appearance in a Chelsea matchday squad during the first half of last season and he eventually completed a loan move to West Ham United in the winter transfer window.

He quickly established himself as a pivotal player under Nuno Espirito Santo and it’s understood that West Ham would like to sign him permanently this summer following their relegation to the Championship.

However, they have been put off by Chelsea’s €29.2 million (£25m) asking price and no concrete reports suggest that negotiations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace registered their interest in a loan deal earlier this summer, but a move to Selhurst Park hasn’t taken shape and rumours regarding Disasi’s future have gone completely quiet over the past week.

The Athletic now report that Disasi is “close” to joining an unnamed Premier League club, but the Blues may reportedly be forced to accept another loan move despite their desire to offload the ex-France international on a permanent deal before the summer window closes.

Disasi is still yet to be firmly linked with any club and he is currently in transfer limbo for the second consecutive summer, having been omitted from Chelsea’s squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia. However, it appears as though a move away could be finalised shortly.

Who else will leave Chelsea?

Player departures are regarded as a priority by the Chelsea hierarchy and Disasi is one of several stars who could be set to depart on a permanent deal over the next two weeks.

Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, David Datro Fofana, Deivid Washington and Disasi have all been placed on Chelsea’s ‘for-sale’ list and the club will also consider offers for Enzo Fernandez, Tosin Adarabioyo, Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also hoping to finalise loan exits for Landon Emenalo, Reggie Walsh, Shumaira Mheuka, Caleb Wiley, Mykhailo Mudryk, Kendry Paez, Mamadou Sarr and Aaron Anselmino. Benoit Badiashile is on the verge of joining Napoli on an initial temporary deal.
