Manchester United have learned Borussia Dortmund have slapped an eye-watering €120million (£102m) price tag on Felix Nmecha, according to The Athletic.

Sky Sports Germany reported in June that United were monitoring Nmecha as part of their planned midfield revamp ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season.

Nmecha caught the eye at this summer’s World Cup, scoring in Germany’s 7-1 victory over Curacao while the midfielder also won a penalty in the same game.

However, according to The Athletic, Bundesliga giants Dortmund have raised their valuation for Nmecha in light of Elliot Anderson’s €134m (£116m) switch to Manchester City.

Anderson was also admired by United but the England international joined their fierce rivals Man City this week, becoming the most expensive British player of all time in the process.

United have also watched on as Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, two other players who featured on their midfield shortlist, have opted to join Tottenham Hotspur in a €216m (£185m) double deal.

Widespread reports have suggested United are also keen on Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni in their quest to bolster their midfield.

However, two players who United are not expected to table offers for are Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, according to the Daily Mail.

BBC Sport understands United are keen to avoid overpaying for new signings this summer, with The Athletic also claiming the club are looking to spread their budget across a number of areas.

The same outlet claims United are also running the rule over several left wingers, with West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville a player they admire.

Summerville caught the eye for Netherlands at this summer’s World Cup, scoring two goals and recording as many assists in four games.

The 24-year-old was also one of West Ham’s best players in an otherwise torrid 2025-26 season which led to relegation from the Premier League.

United are on the verge of making their first summer signing after agreeing a €40.5m (£35m) fee with Atalanta to sign Ederson.

BBC Sport understands the midfielder is yet to complete a medical, however, after he received a late call-up for Brazil’s World Cup squad.

After featuring in Brazil’s 3-0 group-stage win over Haiti on 20 June, Ederson told reporters his move to United is “practically almost all sorted.”
