Chelsea Transfer News Today: €80m defender offered as Van Hecke pursuit accelerates
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Wesley Fofana, Jan Paul van Hecke and Anthony Gordon.
Fofana offered to Barca
Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has been offered to Barcelona, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The Frenchman is seemingly facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge and has been presented to the Blaugrana as a potential option by his representatives. Barcelona are known to be in the market for a centre-back.
The Catalans are not indifferent to Fofana's interest in a move. While Alessandro Bastoni remains their preferred option, the Chelsea star has been "studied" and added to an extended shortlist of targets.
It is claimed that Chelsea would be willing to listen to offers north of €30m for a player who was signed for €80m in 2022 but who has struggled with serious injury problems. Barcelona would prefer a loan with a purchase option.
Spurs acclerate Van Hecke pursuit
Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke, as per TEAMtalk.
The Netherlands international is believed to be keen to leave the Seagulls this summer, which has attracted the attention of various Premier League big-hitters, including Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs.
It is believed that Van Hecke is a key target for the Blues, but it Tottenham who are now believed to be ready to accelerate on a deal for the centre-back. Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi, of course, coached him at Brighton.
Gordon talks held
Chelsea have held talks with the representatives of Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, Si Philipps claims.
A meeting is said to have taken place between Gordon's camp and Chelsea officials during which a summer transfer was discussed. Gordon is "likely" to be on the move this summer.
This news comes after reports from Germany claimed that Bayern Munich had made Gordon a five-year contract offer and that personal terms would not be an issue. Getting Newcastle to agree to a reasonable fee is the bigger problem.
Newcastle want Delap
Chelsea may have an ace up their sleeve in the battle to sign Gordon because Newcastle want Blues striker Liam Delap, Ben Jacobs reports.
The Magpies have been linked with a move for Nicolas Jackson in recent days, but the journalist insists that they actually want Delap, who was already a target for them last summer. However, he turned them down in favour of joining Chelsea.
The 23-year-old could already be on the move again after just one season, having failed to live up to expectations at Chelsea. Newcastle would welcome him with open arms.
"El Mama" wants Chelsea
The mother of Koln wonderkid Said El Mala is believed to be holding out for an offer from Chelsea, BILD claims.
The 19-year-old winger is represented by his parents after dropping his long-time agent, and it is asserted that his mother in particular "dreams" of a big offer from the Blues.
Brighton recently left the negotiations for El Mala after baulking at Koln's €50m asking price, despite trying to sign him since at least last summer. This has presented Chelsea with an opportunity to swoop in, but it is unclear if they are ready to spend that much on the teenager.
Xavi truth revealed
The camp of former Barcelona manager Xavi claims that he has been approached by Chelsea for their managerial vacancy.
However, Ben Jacobs states that the Blues are not currently considering the Spaniard for the job. He has been ruled out "for now."
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has gone further and stated that there has been "zero contact" between Chelsea and Xavi. However, it is true that the former Barca boss would be keen on a job in the Premier League.
