Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has dropped a fresh hint that he could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer, stating that his dream is to move to Madrid.

Enzo has been unsettled at Chelsea for several months, despite playing to a high level for Enzo Maresca and then Liam Rosenior.

Real Madrid have been one of the sides most regularly linked with the Argentine, who has now suggested that a switch to the Bernabeu is appealing to him.

Enzo Fernandez’s Real Madrid flirtation continues

Enzo Fernandez was asked which city he would most like to live in during an interview with Marcos Giles for Kick (via InfoBae) and indicated that the move to Madrid would be his dream.

The 25-year-old Chelsea midfielder explained: “I really like Madrid. It’s similar to Buenos Aires.”

He was then asked about clubs he could play for, but refused to be drawn on that question, simply smiling instead.

Enzo was more forthcoming when he admitted that he would one day like to return to Argentina to play for River Plate – and not simply to wind down before retirement.

“I want to go back, and I want to go back in good shape,” he admitted.

Enzo openly pushing for Chelsea exit

While Enzo still has six years left on his Chelsea deal, the possibility of him leaving for Real Madrid is one that seems to increase by the week.

Multiple reports have indicated that he could leave the club if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, while these were fuelled by comments that he made after the Blues were dumped out of the last 16 of the competition by PSG, when he refused to commit his future to the Premier League outfit.

“I don’t know, there are eight games left and then the FA Cup," Fernandez said when asked if he would be at Chelsea next season. "Then there's the World Cup, and then we’ll see."

TalkSport has reported that Enzo sees the possibility of moving to Real Madrid as a “dream” outcome and is “actively exploring options” that will take him to Spain.

Meanwhile, contract talks between the Argentine and Chelsea have reportedly stalled.

Enzo’s latest comments will only further fuel the suggestion that he wants to leave West London for Real Madrid this summer.
