Alvarez open to Premier League return

Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez is open to returning to the Premier League this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

The Argentina international would prefer to stay in Spain and sign for Barcelona, but he is not optimistic that the Catalans could match Atleti's hefty financial demands.

As a result, he could pursue a move back to England, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the clubs interested in signing him. Any deal is likely to cost over €100 million.

James extends contract

Chelsea captain Reece James has signed a new long-term contract until 2032, extending his previous deal by four years. The England international would have been out of contract in 2028.

Though the Blues are expected to once again be busy this summer, there is a strong argument to be made that this new contract is already the most important signing of the year.

Losing James would have been a devastating blow to the Chelsea project, as recognised by Liam Rosenior, who has described the captain as "the best player in world football in his position."

Barco arrival "very close"

Strasbourg midfielder Valentin Barco is "very close" to becoming the first incoming transfer of the Liam Rosenior era, according to Guillem Balague.

Rosenior coached the Argentine at Strasbourg and converted him from a left-back into a central midfielder, a position he has since excelled in. It has been claimed for some time that the coach is keen to reunite with Barco at Stamford Bridge.

If completed, Barco would already be the fifth signing of the upcoming summer window, and it would be another devastating blow to Strasbourg, who have lost numerous key personnel to their sister club since the BlueCo takeover in 2023.

Fernandez to jump ship

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is ready to leave the club this summer, according to Fichajes.

The Blues' chastening defeat to PSG has convinced the Argentine that Chelsea will not be able to compete for major honours anytime soon, prompting a desire to leave the club.

This echoes reports coming out of France ahead of the game, which asserted that Fernandez could look to depart Chelsea if they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Colwill in line for new deal

After securing the future of Reece James, Chelsea also want to tie Levi Colwill down to a new deal, according to Ben Jacobs.

The England international is still tied to the club until 2029, with the option for a further season, but there is a willingness from all parties to discuss fresh terms.

Nothing is imminent, but Colwill looks set to be the next major Chelsea star to sign another monumental new contract.

Barcelona want Neto

Barcelona have added Chelsea winger Pedro Neto to their shortlist of potential wide targets, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Portugal international is well-liked by Hansi Flick and the club's recruitment department, while his agent Jorge Mendes has close ties to the club, giving rise to the belief that a deal may be possible in the future.

At present, Barcelona are simply monitoring the 26-year-old, but he could become one to watch if the Catalans decide to refresh their options for the flanks. It is thought that Neto has a release clause in his Chelsea deal.
