A full agreement has now been reached, as per The Athletic, with James’ new deal now running until 2032.

In addition, James has now been brought in line with the rest of the Chelsea squad in regards to the incentivised wage structure that has been implemented by new owners BlueCo. The 26-year-old was previously the only player still on terms from the Roman Abramovich era, but this is no longer the case.

Real Madrid have previously been linked with a move for James, although such rumours dissipated following his injury issues in recent years and the arrival of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold last summer.
