Transfer Rumours: Man Utd in €120m twist as January deal agreed
The January transfer window is nearly here and the rumour mill is unsurprisingly heating up as a result.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 30 December, including the latest updates on Elliot Anderson and Conor Gallagher.
Man City want Elliot Anderson
Manchester City are reportedly confident of beating arch-rivals Manchester United to the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson next year.
Man Utd have been considered to be the frontrunners for Anderson’s signature for several months, with the Red Devils eager to finalise a deal for the 23-year-old, who is valued at around €120m by Forest.
However, TEAMtalk claim that Pep Guardiola’s side believe they will be able to acquire Anderson next year as they continue their pursuit of an additional central midfielder amid concerns over Rodri’s long-term future at the club.
Atletico agree Conor Gallagher departure
Atletico Madrid have reportedly agreed to offload Manchester United target Conor Gallagher during the upcoming January transfer window.
The England international has fallen down the pecking order this season and TEAMtalk report that Atletico have agreed for Gallagher to leave the club during the winter window if they receive a suitable offer.
It’s understood that Simeone’s side would prefer a permanent sale, although a loan deal with an option to buy clause included could also be sanctioned next month.
Barcelona want Bundesliga centre-back
Bournemouth defender Marco Senesi is on Barcelona's shortlist heading into 2026, but Sport claims that the Spanish champions are primarily looking to the Bundesliga for a potential new signing.
Nico Schlotterbeck, who was handed his senior Germany debut by Flick, is known to be held in high esteem by the Blaugrana hierarchy. He would be expensive in the summer, with recent reports suggesting that Borussia Dortmund have increased his price tag from €50 million to €70m.
The report adds that Wolfsburg star Konstantinos Koulierakis and Hamburg wonderkid Luka Vuskovic have also been added to Deco's shortlist, but they are unlikely to be much cheaper than Schlotterbeck.
Celtic chase Hibernian star
Celtic are showing an interest in Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan, according to a report.
Mulligan's performances have attracted significant transfer interest and earlier this month Foot Mercato reported that clubs from Ligue 1, the Bundesliga and the Premier League are keeping tabs on him with a view to a potential January move.
The Daily Mail has now added Celtic to the Scotland hopeful's long list of admirers.
Shumaira Mheuka could leave Chelsea
Chelsea wonderkid Shumaira Mheuka could reportedly leave the club on loan during the January transfer window in order to gain valuable first-team experience.
That is according to The Evening Standard, who report that a January loan move for Mheuka will be “openly considered” by the Chelsea hierarchy as the 18-year-old looks to make the step up from academy football.
BBC Sport have also confirmed that Mheuka is open to securing a six-month loan deal away from Stamford Bridge in order to boost his development in the senior game, with Chelsea set to assess the possible options before coming to a final decision.
