With the January transfer window just a couple of weeks away from opening, the “most wanted” target for the month has emerged.

Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi is the most in-demand player for the winter transfer window, according to TeamTalk, with more than a dozen leading clubs vying to sign the England international star.

As many as five top Premier League clubs have indicated to Guehi that they are willing to sign him, while offers are also expected to arrive from some of Europe’s leading clubs.

Who wants to sign Marc Guehi?

  • Chelsea
  • Liverpool
  • Manchester City
  • Manchester United
  • Tottenham
  • Atletico Madrid
  • Barcelona
  • Real Madrid
  • Bayern Munich
  • Inter Milan
  • Juventus
  • PSG
  • Galatasaray

Advantage Europe

Guehi’s contract at Crystal Palace expires at the end of the season, making him a viable target in January.

Clubs in Europe hold an advantage when it comes to signing the 25-year-old, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €48.4 million.

These teams can begin negotiations with Guehi as of 1 January and can make an agreement for him to sign on 1 July. Bayern Munich are even reported to have scheduled talks with him on the first day of 2026.

Any Premier League team seeking to sign Guehi will have to have permission from Crystal Palace to open talks over personal terms with the player. A transfer fee will also have to be agreed with the Selhurst Park side.

Liverpool found out in the summer how hazardous this can be. Guehi appeared destined to move to Anfield before Palace pulled out of the deal at the last moment, concerned about their inability to find a replacement.

What move should Guehi make?

When it comes to Guehi deciding his next step, SciSports’ Career advice tool suggests that he has some very strong options open to him – both in the Premier League and in Europe.

This algorithm gives each team a Club Fit score based on various factors ranging from potential development and playing time to playing style and formation. The higher the Club Fit number, the likelier a deal is to be a success.

Barcelona are Guehi’s best option, according to the data experts. The Catalan club score an impressive 84 on the Club Fit, with the only metric letting the Blaugrana down being formation – a familiar concern across the board for the defender.

Bayern, who are perhaps the favourites to land the player, also rank well, with an 81. Should no deal be agreed with Dayot Upamecano, who could leave the Allianz Arena on a free transfer in the summer, their score would likely go up as Guehi’s minutes would be forecast to increase.

Within the Premier League, Manchester City are rated as the most suitable club for Guehi, coming in with a Club Fit score of 82. Pep Guardiola’s outfit can offer him the best development prospects but cannot guarantee him game time.

PSG (79), Bayer Leverkusen (76) and Atletico Madrid (75), all score ahead of Guehi’s next best Premier League options, which are Arsenal and Liverpool, both tied on 74.
