Manchester United fans were left hugely impressed by Elliot Anderson's performance for Nottingham Forest against their club.

The England international has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils, who are looking to sign at least one new midfielder in 2026, potentially two.

Although a January transfer appears unlikely, Anderson will surely be one to watch in the summer. The 22-year-old has been mightily impressive for Nottingham Forest since joining from Newcastle last year.

On Saturday, Anderson came up against his potential new employers, and he was crucial as Forest overturned a 1-0 deficit. Although not directly involved in a goal, it was his pinpoint cross-field pass to winger Dan Ndoye that created the Tricky Trees' equaliser shortly after half-time.

The midfielder covered a huge amount of ground and left many a Man Utd supporter pleasantly surprised. His energy and ability to get around the pitch is exactly what Red Devils fans believe is lacking in their midfield. The fact that he is an elite passer, too, is a bonus.

Man Utd fans want Anderson

Whether Man Utd will get their hands on Anderson in 2026 remains to be seen, of course. He is unlikely to be keen on a January move as this is a World Cup season and he only recently broke into Thomas Tuchel's side.

Moreover, the 22-year-old is expected to be incredibly expensive, with some reports suggesting that he could fetch as much as €137 million next summer. He would likely be even pricier in January.

Man Utd are far from the only club keen on him, either. His former side Newcastle are said to be desperate to bring him back, while Chelsea and Man City admire him, too.

For now, though, Man Utd fans can dream about adding the England star to their team next year.
