Bayern Munich have reached an agreement to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy.

The Senegal international has been at the centre of one of the most chaotic transfer sagas in recent memory over the past few days, but he is now set to finally complete a move to Bayern.

The reigning Bundesliga champions were expected to sign Jackson on Saturday, having reached a full agreement with Chelsea, but the deal collapsed when Enzo Maresca’s side informed the 24-year-old to return to London following Liam Delap’s hamstring injury.

After initially declining Chelsea’s demand, Jackson accepted the club’s decision on Sunday evening and he was prepared to return to the club in order to provide emergency cover for Delap.

However, the west London outfit then opted to recall Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland and Bayern’s deal for Jackson was suddenly reignited through “secret talks.”

Vincent Kompany’s team have held positive talks with Chelsea over the past few hours and a transfer is now on the verge of being formally completed, as per multiple sources.

This has been confirmed by football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: "BREAKING: Bayern and Chelsea seal new agreement for Nicolas Jackson deal, done!

"Loan + buy clause with new element of obligation to buy included in the deal for 2026, as Chelsea wanted. Jackson already agreed 5 year deal at Bayern. €15m loan fee. Here we go again."

Nicolas Jackson transfer statement

News that Jackson is set to join Bayern comes after his agent, Ali Barat, released an official transfer statement.

“Nico was ready. Bayern was ready. We were all aligned on a world-class project. For the agreement to be withdrawn at the final moment is deeply frustrating. But we won’t give up,” Barat said (via Romano).

“I will fight with everything I have to make sure Nico’s next step reflects his talent, ambition, and the plan we built together. We hope that Chelsea can cover Liam Delap’s unfortunate injury.”
