Real Betis are growing increasingly confident of being able to secure Manchester United winger Antony for at least one more season.

The Seville outfit have made no secret of their desire to prolong the Brazilian's stint in Andalusia after he proved to be a shrewd acquisition when he joined them on a six-month loan in January.

At Man Utd, Antony had gone down as one of the Premier League's biggest flops and, by his own admission, it caused him to lose his love for football, a love he managed to find again at Real Betis.

The 25-year-old contributed nine goals and five assists in 25 appearances and helped the LaLiga side reach the final of the Conference League. Naturally, Betis have been exploring all possible avenues of keeping him, either via another loan or permanently.

Somewhat surprisingly, Antony, too, is desperate to return to Seville. Despite the fact that he is receiving interest from bigger clubs, he is prioritising a move back to Betis, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Betis confident of 'complex' Antony deal

Betis' sporting director Manu Fajardo has now once again confirmed that he is in talks with Man Utd to try and make a deal for Antony possible. “We all have to be aware that this is a very complex operation," he said in comments relayed by Estadio Deportivo.

"Given the player’s level and his recent career at Real Betis, it’s not an easy transaction. But as long as Antony hasn’t committed to a third party, we, with the utmost humility, will play our cards to be able to opt for Antony.

I insist, despite this being a complex operation, we will try to carry it out in different ways without compromising the club. In the end, the most important thing is also the sustainability of the club.

"We will try to be creative, as we have been in the past, so that Antony can be here. Today, the market is open and, as I said before, it’s very dynamic, and we are part of that game."

When quizzed about Antony's desire to return, Fajardo added: “It doesn’t surprise me. And I’d like to take this opportunity once again to highlight the work that Real Betis do as a whole, across all departments.

"When a player arrives here and has such an immediate impact, that’s no coincidence. It’s the result of the work, sacrifice, and seriousness of everyone involved on a day-to-day basis."
