Arsenal will sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Sweden international is one of Mikel Arteta’s priority transfer targets for the 2025 summer window and he has set his sights on completing a move to north London after a hugely successful two-year spell at Sporting.

The Transfers Podcast understands that Gyokeres may even go on strike to force a summer transfer, with Sporting increasing their asking price in recent weeks, despite reaching a gentleman’s agreement over a possible fee last year.

Reports indicate that Gyokeres may be open to reuniting with former boss Ruben Amorim at Manchester United this summer, however Arsenal are still considered to be the frontrunners in the race to acquire his signature amid their pursuit of a new centre forward.

The Gunners are also in talks to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, but transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio believes Arsenal will land Gyokeres instead.

The Italian journalist told Wett Freunde: “It's true that Arsenal have him [Sesko] in their sights, but Arsenal will sign Gyokeres because he wants to join Arsenal. Other clubs have tried to enter the race, like Juventus, but he will go to Arsenal, and other strikers won't come if he goes there.

“He was their first target from the start, and now they have to find an agreement with Sporting. He will be an Arsenal player.”

Arsenal’s spending spree

In addition to Gyokeres, Arsenal are also set to bolster their squad with four new signings as Arteta looks to end a five-year trophy drought.

The Gunners have already finalised deals for Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea), Christian Norgaard (Brentford) and Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad), while they are closing in on a deal for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.

The Spain U21 international has accepted a summer move to the Emirates Stadium, although Arsenal are yet to finalise a transfer fee with Valencia. Mosquera is reportedly viewed as the ideal understudy to William Saliba.
