Fabrizio Romano CONFIRMS Man City’s first summer signing

Manchester City are ready to announce their first signing of the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The football transfer news expert has confirmed that Tijjani Reijnders has signed a deal that will take him from AC Milan to the Etihad Stadium.
City are set to splash out a total of €75 million on the Netherlands international, although reports suggest that as much as €20m of this could be tied up in bonus payments. This is in line with his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €55m.
Romano reports on X: “Tijjani Reijnders has signed his contract as new Manchester City player with official statement to follow next.”
The 26-year-old had previously indicated that a deal was close as he told Dutch reporters: “I couldn’t wait any longer. The intention is to participate in the Club World Cup with City.
“I’m thrilled about it. This way I get to know my teammates straight away. I will be back in Zeist on Sunday evening. Then I will prepare for Tuesday’s game against Malta.”

Reijnders’ medical in Manchester took place on Sunday, and it appears that he also signed his contract with Pep Guardiola’s side at that point.
He is expected to earn around €8m in wages over the course of a five-year deal – more than double his current salary in Milan.
City are also chasing a deal to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers, whose medical was expected on Saturday, and Rayan Cherki from Lyon.
Tijjani Reijnders to Man City: The expert view
Italian football expert Carlo Garganese has explained to FootballTransfers that Reijnders looks like a terrific fit for Guardiola’s side.
“Reijnders is one of the best midfielders in Serie A - with perhaps only Scott McTominay performing at a higher level than him in 2024-25,” he says.
“Pep Guardiola is a massive fan of the Dutchman, and it is easy to see why. Reijnders boasts the press-breaking ability on the ball to surge into space that very few midfielders possess.
“This past season he really took his game onto a new level as he delivered 15 goals and five assists in all competitions. These numbers are particularly impressive considering Milan endured one of the worst seasons in their history, as they failed to qualify for Europe and were knocked out of the Champions League in the play-offs.
“At the age of 26 he is entering his peak years and Guardiola will feel he has the attributes to develop him into a Premier League star.”
