Chelsea Transfer News Today: Striker talks opened as €80m deal 'attacked'

All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Nico Williams, Nick Woltemade and Marc Guehi.
Chelsea open Woltemade talks

Chelsea have opened talks with Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade after their talks with Eintracht Frankfurt for Hugo Ekitike reached an impasse due to his €100 million valuation.
Woltemade is coming off an impressive season and notched a hat-trick for Germany's U21s against Slovenia on Thursday. He refused to confirm Chelsea's interest after the game.
The Blues are said to have enquired about the financial requirements of a potential deal, with the player still tied to Stuttgart until 2028 and without a release clause.
Chelsea 'attack' for Araujo

Chelsea are 'preparing an attack' for Benfica defender Tomas Araujo, a year after initially identifying him as a potential target. The Blues are ready to flex their financial muscle to prise him away from Lisbon.
Araujo previously had a €100m release clause, but its value was reduced to €80m when he signed a new contract during the 2024/25 season. Benfica are desperate to keep the 23-year-old.
Chelsea are still looking to sign a high-profile centre-back after missing out on Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid. Mamadou Sarr has arrived from Strasbourg, but a more established option is desired by club chiefs.
Chelsea to send Guehi to Arsenal?

Crystal Palace are still interested in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, but a move is contingent on Marc Guehi's potential departure. Chelsea are looking to sell Chalobah despite taking him along for the Club World Cup.
Arsenal were recently linked with Guehi, who is said to be available for as little as €53m due to his expiring contract. The Gunners' signing of the Palace star would see Chalobah head back to Selhurst Park.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are seemingly prioritising other targets despite also being linked with Guehi in recent months. In addition to the above-mentioned Araujo, they are keen on Jorrel Hato.
Barcelona reignite Williams pursuit

Nico Williams appears to be increasingly slipping away from the Premier League despite interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. Barcelona are the latest club to have met with his agent.
Williams' agent wanted to gauge Barcelona's interest after the Athletic Club star was their top target last summer. Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently claimed that the Catalans were no longer interested.
However, this meeting tells a different story. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich remain in talks to sign the 22-year-old as well.
