Chelsea are concretely interested in signing Everton stalwart Jarrad Branthwaite this summer, according to a report.

The 22-year-old has become one of the Premier League's most promising young centre-backs over the past two seasons, so much so that Everton slapped a whopping €82 million price tag on his head last year.

This was done to fend off interest primarily from Manchester United, who made several low-ball bids for Branthwaite before ultimately having to settle on the more attainable Matthijs de Ligt.

The situation surrounding the England international promises to be no different this year, with several clubs already credited with an interest in him. In addition to Man Utd, who reportedly remain keen on him, Tottenham are also in the frame.

More so than the Red Devils and Spurs, however, it is Chelsea who are starting to stir for one of England's biggest talents.

Chelsea want Branthwaite

Last week, it was revealed that the Blues hold an interest in the 22-year-old, reporting which has now been confirmed by TEAMtalk. The outlet also corroborates that Everton will not sell for less than the quoted €82m asking price.

David Moyes is desperate to keep Branthwaite at the club long-term, and he hopes that the Friedkin takeover can show the player the Toffees' newfound ambition.

Whether that will be enough is doubtful, however, as it was already previously claimed that Branthwaite would be open to a move to a Champions League side.

Everton won't budge from their valuation and feel that they are in a strong position to keep Branthwaite, who is tied to the club until 2027, but Chelsea have him very high up on their summer shortlist after missing out on Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.

The Blues' interest is described as more 'advanced' than Spurs', and there is some hope at Stamford Bridge that Everton could be convinced into a sale to fund their summer rebuild under the Friedkins.
