Arsenal have reportedly submitted a €70 million offer for Viktor Gyokeres as they intensify their pursuit of the Sporting CP centre forward.

Gyokeres, 26, has emerged as Arsenal’s priority striker target since the appointment of Andrea Berta as their new sporting director in March, and the Gunners are pushing to reach an agreement for his signature ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

As exclusively reported by FootballTransfers, Arsenal have held fresh talks with Gyokeres’ representatives and Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness) have now revealed that an initial transfer bid has been presented.

The Gunners met with Hasan Cetinkaya, Gyokeres’ agent, in Lisbon over the weekend and they reportedly lodged an offer worth around €70m for the Sweden star’s services.

Cetinkaya is set to present this offer to Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas on Tuesday as Arsenal look to finalise an agreement with the Portuguese giants.

Gyokeres will reportedly receive a signing bonus worth €12m if he joins Arsenal this summer, while the north London giants have offered him an annual salary of €7m across the course of a five-year deal.

What has Viktor Gyokeres said?

Gyokeres has remained incredibly tight-lipped when asked about Arsenal’s interest over the past few months and he was once again reluctant to cause additional speculation following Sporting’s win over Benfica in the Taca de Portugal final on Sunday.

“I don’t know anything [about Arsenal interest], I tried to focus on the last few games, if something is true, we’ll see,” he told reporters after the game.

He also admitted to SIC Noticias: “We'll see. It's the future. Football is like that, you never know what's going to happen. As we saw this season, you never know what's going to happen. And it's the same thing now. We'll see what the future holds.”

Gyokeres has scored 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting, following his arrival from Coventry City in 2023, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at a career high of €75m.
