Fichajes reports that Liverpool bid €120 million on the Brazilian attacker as they attempt to improve a frontline that has missed far too many chances this season.

However, Real Madrid refused the offer and do not intend to sell Rodrygo this summer.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti considers Rodrygo a key player of his squad, who contributes goals and assists whether he starts or comes on from the bench.

This season the Brazilian has scored 17 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions.

Mbappe announced last week that he was leaving PSG on a free transfer this summer when his contract expires.

It is widely acknowledged that he will join Real Madrid on a Bosman transfer.

The arrival of Mbappe has been used as a reason why both Rodrygo and Madrid could be open to a sale to the Premier League.

The arrival of Mbappe could see Rodrygo’s game time reduced even further.

But Fichajes says that Real Madrid will not sell, despite a massive club record bid from Liverpool.

Rodrygo at Real Madrid

Rodrygo joined Real Madrid from Santos for €40 million in the summer of 2019.

The 23-year-old has gone on to make 213 appearances for Real Madrid over the last five seasons, scoring 54 goals.

He has often been used as substitute but has proved a crucial member of the squad in La Liga and the Champions League.

He most famously impacted Madrid’s 2022 Champions League triumph.

He scored key goals in the quarter final win over Chelsea and the dramatic late comeback victory over Man City in the semi final.

Rodrygo scored in the 89th and 91st minute in the second leg over City to take the game into extra time which Madrid won. The Blancos then lifted the cup in the final.

Rodrygo has a contract until 2025 with Madrid.
