Kylian Mbappe, Liverpool

Arsenal legend Robert Pires thinks Kylian Mbappe should move to the Premier League - but not to north London.

It is one of football's worst-kept secrets that PSG megastar Mbappe is Real Madrid-bound. Los Blancos have been courting the Frenchman for years and this summer, the 25-year-old is expected to finally complete his dream move, two years after snubbing Real at the last minute.

Though a contract has not officially been signed yet, everything seems to point towards Mbappe moving to the Spanish capital this term. The attacker has already informed his PSG colleagues that he will depart at the end of the season and this has subsequently seen his game time diminish under Luis Enrique.

Mbappe was left fuming at the weekend as the Spaniard hooked him off in the derby against Olympique Marseille after 65 minutes and the relationship between the two is said to be tense. It seems Mbappe can't wait to get out of the Parc des Prince, but compatriot Robert Pires has now given him some rather strange transfer advice.

Mbappe to Liverpool?

Speaking to French outlet Media Carre, Pires was asked about Mbappe's future. Strangely, the Arsenal legend urged him to reject Real Madrid, as he himself had once done, and to join Liverpool, not the Gunners.

"I'm sorry Kylian, you weren't the first to say no to Real Madrid (laughs). I don't know what decision he will make, but I rejected Real because I had two other options. Surely if I didn't have Arsenal and Juve, I would have gone straight to Real. That is sure."

"I would like to see him at Liverpool. It's a great club, family, good structure, no pressure, calm fans... And I tell myself that Mbappé and [Mohamed] Salah could be quite explosive. I think he is capable of rejecting Real Madrid."

Liverpool, of course, are long-time admirers of Mbappe having attempted to sign him in 2017, with Jurgen Klopp personally meeting the wonderkid in Monaco. In recent months, it has been claimed that Liverpool can't be counted out of the race to sign him, but the departure of the German coach means that the Reds stand no realistic chance of landing the 25-year-old.
