Paul Pogba has revealed that he walked out of contract discussions during his first stint at Manchester United as agent Mino Raiola said his dog wouldn’t accept the terms on offer.

Pogba was at the Manchester United academy and was looking to sign a long-term deal at the club when these negotiations took place.

Manchester United recognised his talent and wanted to tie him down, but were unable to do so and he went to Juventus instead, becoming a star there.

Now, Pogba has revealed how the contract negotiations took place and what made Raiola and the Frenchman walk out of negotiations, leaving Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking at the Golden Boy Awards, Pogba spoke about how negotiations went down and what Raiola said before walking out of the deal, in a move that angered the legendary Manchester United boss.

“I was at Manchester United, I was 17. Ferguson wanted me to extend. I arrived with Rafaela (Pimenta) and Mino. And Ferguson said, 'so we sign?' But we said no.

“Mino answered him: 'This contract, even my dog wouldn’t sign it! Paul, get up let's go!' I got up and we left,” Pogba later added, suggesting how poor the deal was.

Pogba left for Juventus and became a star there, before returning to Manchester United in 2016 in what was a world-record transfer at the time, but his second spell at Old Trafford was hardly fruitful.

He stayed at Manchester United for six years before his contract ran out once again earlier this year, as he made a return to Juventus, but is yet to play a competitive game for them due to injury.

The Frenchman is set to miss the World Cup this winter because of his injury issues, but will be hoping to make a strong return in 2023 to help revive Juventus’ flailing season.
