“I just want to share that I’ve decided to leave the club this summer. Respectfully, the club is helping me with this decision,” the 33-year-old said.

“This was the hardest decision I’ve made in my career. I’ve spent 10 years at Tottenham. The main reason is that I’ve achieved everything I could here. I need a new environment and a fresh challenge. I’m thankful the club has respected my choice and I wish Spurs the best next season.”

Who is Son signing with?

Son Heung-min is set to join MLS side LAFC, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs.

The deal is currently being negotiated with Tottenham, and talks are said to be in an “advanced” stage, Jacobs explained on X.

There’s even a chance Son could fly straight to the U.S. after Spurs’ friendly with Newcastle on Sunday, as LAFC already has a delegation in South Korea to finalize the transfer.

Son says the World Cup is a major factor in his decision-making.

While he hasn’t confirmed his next club by name, he did share what he’s looking for in his new team.

“When choosing the next team, the World Cup will definitely be one of the key factors I consider. It might be my last World Cup, so I need a new environment where I can give everything I’ve got. Besides that, I also need a team that brings me happiness on the field,” he said.

Son has made 454 appearances and scored 173 goals, cementing his status as one of Tottenham’s all-time greats.
