Timo Weah’s agent slams Juventus over blocked transfer to Marseille
Timo Weah’s agent has blasted Juventus for allegedly blocking the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) star’s proposed move to French club Marseille.
Weah, 25, came through Paris Saint-Germain’s youth academy and is reportedly eager to link up with former PSG teammate Adrien Rabiot at Marseille—a move considered controversial due to the clubs’ fierce rivalry.
However, negotiations between Juventus and Marseille have stalled, prompting Weah’s agent, Badou Sambague, to publicly criticize the Italian club.
“The sporting department is run by three people—two of them are class acts, and one is still figuring it out,” Sambague told French outlet RMC. “Two are looking for solutions, one is creating problems—and we’re not going to ignore that.”
Sambague went further, accusing one Juventus official of holding a grudge from the 2022 World Cup.
“This person screwed up his World Cup and tried to force Timo to join a club he didn’t want. Now, out of spite, he’s demanding a ridiculous fee and waiting for a Premier League offer that’s not coming—and that we’ll never accept.”
“I usually stay quiet, but silence now would mean accepting the unacceptable. You can’t buy class as a sporting director—but class used to define Juventus. One person is ruining that.”
Juventus responds: “You don’t get to pick your team”
Juventus director general Damien Comolli responded bluntly in the Italian media:
“He wants to join Marseille, but in football, you don’t just pick your team. If no acceptable offer comes in, he stays put. So far, we haven’t received one.”
The situation adds more tension to a hectic summer for Juventus. The club is also dealing with uncertainty surrounding striker Dusan Vlahovic and midfielder Douglas Luiz, who is reportedly pushing for a Premier League return after a disappointing season in Italy.
With the Serie A season around the corner, Juventus faces mounting pressure to resolve multiple transfer sagas—including Weah’s.
