Saudi Pro League January transfers 2024: All the Done Deals

The Saudi Pro League has taken the transfer market by storm in 2023 and the early signs suggest that this theme will continue in 2024.

Saudi Arabia is the nouveau riche league of world football, with a host of world-class players moving to the Kingdom for astronomical fees and on massive wages in 2023. These include the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Sadio Mane and Karim Benzema.

The summer window is now shut, however, meaning clubs in Saudi Arabia will not be able to add to their squad until January.

However, the division is expected to be extremely active during the winter window, with a loan move for Inter Miami megastar Lionel Messi rumoured, while their pursuit of Liverpool's Mohamed Salah is set to continue.

Al-Ittihad were extremely interested in signing the Egyptian this summer, but they were unable to convince Jurgen Klopp to sanction a sale. Reports suggest they could return for Salah in January and are prepared to pay a world record fee to sign him

While Salah did not move to Saudi Arabia during the recent transfer window, plenty of the biggest names in world football did.

Neymar became the Saudi Pro League's most expensive ever signing thanks to his €90 million transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, while Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante were among several eye-catching free transfers.

In total, 10 players moved to Saudi Arabia's top flight for €30m or more during the summer window, including Otavio (€60m), Gabri Veiga (€40m) and Riyad Mahrez (€35m).

Furthermore, four of the top five most expensive Saudi Pro League transfers are now Al-Hilal players: Neymar, Malcom (€60m), Ruben Neves (€55m) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (€52.5m).

Done Deals for January 2024: Every Saudi Pro League club's new signings

The 2023-24 January window opens its doors on Monday, 1 January 2024 and is expected to close on Thursday, 1 February. However, the Saudi Pro League's summer transfer window was open for a week longer than in Europe, meaning clubs may have longer to complete deals in January too.

Saudi Arabia will not be the only country with millions spent during the 2024 January transfer window, as the Premier League will once again dip into the market for reinforcements.
