Celtic have reportedly expressed their interest in signing Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, who was once valued at just shy of €30 million.

The 24-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Stoke City and he is one of several Saints stars expected to leave St Mary’s before Transfer Deadline Day, alongside fellow shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale, who has returned to the club following a loan spell at Newcastle United last season.

Bazunu made 19 Championship appearances for Southampton during the first half of the 2025-26 campaign, but he was usurped by January signing Daniel Peretz and after a temporary spell at Stoke, he is now set to depart permanently.

That is according to The Southern Daily Echo, who report that Celtic are eager to sign him amid their pursuit of a new goalkeeper to compete with Vijlami Sinisalo.

The Republic of Ireland international, whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has fallen from a peak of €28.5m to just €6.9m, has also attracted surprise interest from Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb.

Celtic are also in talks to sign Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Balazs Toth, who is likely to be sold before the end of the window.

Who have Celtic signed so far this summer?

So far this summer, Celtic have spent €31.7m on four new signings - Kasper Hogh, Haissen Hassam, Mika Baur and Camilo Duran - and additional new arrivals are expected to join before the window closes on 1 September.

They are seriously interested in signing Torino star Gvidas Gineitis before the end of the window, with fellow midfielders Cheick Souare (Viktoria Plzen), Niko Sigur (Hajduk Split) and Ermin Mahmic (Slovan Liberec) also on the club’s radar.

Meanwhile, the Scottish giants have sold Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda, Luis Palma, Maik Nawrocki, Hayato Inamura and Josh Clarke. Kelechi Iheanacho and Stephen Welsh have departed on Bosman deals, Kasper Schmeichel has retired, and Paulo Bernardo and Shin Yamada have left on loan.
