Kylian Mbappe is now widely regarded as the best footballer in the world - and he certainly demonstrated that at the 2022 World Cup as he scored eight goals, including a hat-trick in the final.

At the age of just 24, he has become PSG's all-time leading scorer when he netted his 201st goal for the Parc des Princes side, beating Edinson Cavani's record in the process.

But what are his overall stats during the 2022-23 season for PSG? We will take a look over the course of this article.

Lionel Messi may have been the star transfer arrival at Paris Saint-Germain last season, but there was no doubt over who their top performer was, with Mbappe impressing throughout.

PSG were crowned French champions in 2021/22, with some fantastic performances from Mbappe helping them coast to the domestic title.

But they fell short of achieving the Champions League glory they crave, costing head coach Mauricio Pochettino his job.

While the season was unfolding, World Cup winner Mbappe was the subject of a huge transfer saga. He appeared destined to join Real Madrid as the campaign drew to a close, but eventually signed a lucrative new three-year contract in May to stay with the Ligue 1 club until 2025.

Likely to be a candidate for European Golden Shoe and Ballon d’Or glory, Mbappe’s performances should be closely watched this year.

He missed the first game of the season, the Trophee des Champions, due to suspension and also sat out the 5-0 Ligue 1 win against Clermont on matchday one due to injury.

His first appearance of the season came a week later in a 5-2 success over Montpellier. It wasn't the strongest display Mbappe will put together, and indeed he missed a first-half penalty, but he was on the scoresheet on the second. It was clear, however, that he was lacking match sharpness and he was replaced with four minutes remaining.

Mbappe came back with a bang the following weekend in Lille, a match that PSG won 7-1. It took him only eight seconds to open the scoring - the fasted Ligue 1 goal since records began - and he would go on to complete a hat-trick. It was a devastating display from both Mbappe and his PSG team-mates, and one that put an end to any suggestion of a major rift between him and Neymar.

The following week was more of a slog against Monaco, his former club and one that he has had a good deal of success against in the past. But despite several good efforts on goal, the best he could manage was a shot against the post when he should have scored.

Mbappe was back on the scoresheet a few days later, though, as he scored PSG's second goalf from a Messi assist in the 3-0 win over Toulouse.

The duo continued to combine effectively during a 3-0 win in Nantes on the opening weekend of September. Mbappe scored the opening two goals of the game before being replaced, with the Argentine assisting both. His opener was a particularly memorable shot above Alban Lafont and into the net after a sweeping counterattack.

Mbappe's first Champions League game of the season saw him produce one of the greatest performances of his career so far. He struck twice in the 2-1 win, which included a sensational volley from a Neymar scooped pass and another clinical finish.

His next match was less high-profile as he failed to score or assist in a 1-0 win over Brest, before being subbed in the 78th minute of the game.

But he was back on the scoresheet in Champions League matchday two, scoring PSG's second in a 3-1 win over Maccabi Haifa.

He was shut out in PSG's subsequent Ligue 1 game against Lyon, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Parisians. Nevertheless, he completed the 90 minutes, with Neymar taken off before him.

Mbappe started on the bench as PSG beat Nice 2-1 last Saturday, with Hugo Ekitike getting the nod up front, but he scored after replacing the Reims-owned man to seal the victory.

He played the full game against Benfica in Champions League matchday three without a goal contribution.

That run continued the following Saturday when PSG went to Reims in Ligue 1 and drew 0-0. Mbappe started the game but Lionel Messi missed out because of injury and Neymar was given a breather on the bench. He struggled to have an influence on the game and was booked in the closing stages for making a petulant foul.

Mbappe's frustration spilled over a few days later when it became known that he has asked to leave PSG during the January transfer window, unhappy at broken promises from the club.

These revelations came out hours before a Champions League meeting with Benfica, but that did not stop him from converting a penalty to become Les Parisiens' leading marksman in the competition.

He earned his first assist of the season by setting up Neymar in the 1-0 win over Marseille in Le Classique in Paris on October 16. Another assist followed in a 3-0 win over Ajaccio the following week, with his brilliant backheel helping Messi to score a delicious second goal in the victory. This piece of imagination sandwiched two goals of his own, both of which were assisted by the Argentine. The first was a trademark burst in behind the defence, while the second was a sharp finish from the edge of the area.

Mbappe added another two goals in the Champions League on Tuesday, as well as laying on an assist for Lionel Messi, as PSG roared past Maccabi Haifa 7-2. His scoring streak was extended to three games in the following weekend as they bagged what proved to be PSG's winner from the penalty spot in a thrilling 4-3 home success over Troyes.

And he finished the Champions League group stages as top scorer in the competition on seven goals by finding the net again versus Juventus on matchday six in a 2-1 win. He also got the assist for Nuno Mendes' winner.

He was quieter four days later as PSG won 2-1 at Lorient but found the net against Auxerre in the final match before the World Cup break on November 13.

Mbappe enjoyed a stunning World Cup. He was top scorer in the competition with eight goals. That included a series of sensational performances, including scoring a hattrick in the final against Argentina. Incredibly, it wasn't enough for France to retain their trophy as Argentina won 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw. Nevertheless, Mbappe has shown to everyone what a superstar he is.

Mbappe was immediately back in action for PSG just 10 days after the World Cup final in the Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg on December 28. And he was again the hero as he scored a 96th minute penalty to give PSG a 2-1 win.

He started 2023 on a negative note as PSG lost 3-1 in a top-of-the-table match against Lens, Mbappe failing to score or assist.

He sat out the Coupe de France win against Chateauroux and the Ligue 1 clash against Angers and came on as a second-half sub in the 1-0 defeat at Rennes.

Mbappe scored his first goal of 2023 in a friendly match against Riyadh All-Star XI, dispatching a 60th minute penalty as PSG ran out 5-4 winners despite Juan Bernat's first-half red card. The goal won't count towards Mbappe's statistics, however, as it wasn't a competitive match.

Mbappe became the first player to net FIVE goals in a competitive game for PSG in January when his side beat non-league outfit Pays de Cassell 7-0 in the French Cup, with the forward also grabbing an assist for Neymar.

The attacker led the line again versus Reims alongside Messi and Neymar but PSG could manage only a 1-1 draw.

His goalless run in Ligue 1 extended to four matches when he failed to net against Montpellier in midweek. Mbappe had his chance, though. After PSG were awarded a penalty, he saw his kick stopped by Benjamin Lecomte. He was given another opportunity when it emerged the goalkeeper was off his line, but after changing direction, the shot-stopper tipped his effort onto the post and he volleyed the follow up high. Shortly afterwards, he limped off injured.

He subsequently missed the win over Montpellier, the Coupe de France defeat to Marseille and the loss to Monaco in Ligue 1.

Mbappe came off the bench against Bayern Munich in the Champions League knockout stage but could and found the target, but it was disallowed for offside as PSG were beaten 1-0.

Mbappe bagged a brace in his next game, sparing Paris' blushes to help secure a 4-3 win over Lille.

PSG switched to a 3-5-2 formation for Le Classique at Marseille as Mbappe partnerred Messi in attack. The duo were in inspired form, combining for three goals in a 3-0 win. In the process, Mbappe became the joint highest scorer in PSG's history.

He beat that record a week later as PSG were involved in another offensive festival as they overcame Nantes 4-2 at home. Mbappe grabbed his history-setting goal in stoppage-time in that game. He gathered possession in the box and pivoted onto his right foot before delivering a fierce finish into the bottom corner of the net. It was clear a goal he was craving.

Mbappe lined up for PSG's biggest game of the season in the Champions League last-16 second leg on March 8 as the Parisians tried to overcome a 1-0 deficit in Munich. However, they were soundly beaten 2-0 on the night and 3-0 on aggregate as PSG were knocked out.

There was evidence of a hangover from that loss in PSG's following match against Brest at the weekend, and indeed they would have dropped points had it not been for the striker. In the final minute of the match, he latched onto a pass from Lionel Messi, sped clear of the defence and rounded the goalkeeper to tap into an empty net. It was a finish that gave PSG a 2-1 win on what had promised to be a frustrating evening.

In the final match before the March international break, Mbappe started up front with Messi at home to Rennes but they fell to a surprise 2-0 defeat.

After the international break, Messi and Mbappe lined up together again against Lyon but PSG fell to a second straight defeat in a 1-0 loss.

Mbappe drew another blank against Nice the following week, but Lionel Messi bagged a goal and an assist as they beat Nice 2-0.

After a couple of quieter displays, Mbappe exploded back to life against Lens in a top-of-the-table clash at Parc des Princes. He opened the scoring with a brilliant first-time shot on the turn, then laid on Messi's goal in a 3-1 win with a brilliant executed backheel.

Mbappe then continued his scoring run with a brace as PSG beat Ligue 1's bottom side Angers 2-0.

He found the net with a bizarre strike versus Lorient on April 30 but PSG fell to a 3-1 defeat.

Mbappe played without the suspended Messi in the game at Troyes on May 7. He managed to find the net in what was a 3-1 win for PSG.

His scoring run continued against Ajaccio a week later as he bagged a pair of second-half goals as PSG won in a 5-0 romp. The former Monaco man's first was a scrappy goal from inside the box, yet the second could barely have been any different as he scored a stunning volley that underlined his qualities and sent the Corsican side into Ligue 2.

Mbappe scored twice against Auxerre to take PSG to the brink of the Ligue 1 title then produced the assist that sealed the silverware the following week as he fashioned a chance for Messi to score in a 1-1 draw with Strasbourg.

He finished on a career-best tally of 29 Ligue 1 goals after netting a penalty in a 3-2 loss against Clermont on the final day of the season. He might have hit 30 for the first time but tried to set up Lionel Messi for a goodbye goal - the Argentine missed a simple chance.

This page will be regularly updated to showcase Mbappe’s individual club statistics for PSG throughout the season.

Mbappe's hattrick wasn't enough in World Cup final

Kylian Mbappe 2021-22 stats

Mbappe produced a remarkable season for PSG in 2021-22.

He made a total of 46 appearances across all competitions, 44 of which were starts, and racked up some astonishing numbers.

Mbappe scored 39 times in those matches and, perhaps even more impressively, added 22 assists, totalling 61 goal involvements.

In league action only, Mbappe had 35 outings (34 starts) and scored 28 times while creating 18 goals for his team-mates.

It was the best-ever assists total in his young career and his second-best Ligue 1 goal tally since 2018-19, when he netted 33 times.

In December 2021 he scored twice against former club Monaco to reach 100 league goals for PSG, making him the youngest player to achieve that feat for a single French club in the modern era.

While PSG suffered huge disappointment against Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16, Mbappe did score in the 1-0 win in the home leg.

He then netted again at Santiago Bernabeu to put them 2-0 up on aggregate, though that lead was surrendered due to Karim Benzema’s last-gasp heroics for Madrid.

As part of an electric second half of the season, the striker scored twice and added three assists to have a hand in all five goals as PSG thrashed Lorient 5-1 on April 3, adding a hat-trick in a 6-1 win at Clermont Foot six days later en route to the Ligue 1 title.

Mbappe scored another hat-trick against Metz as part of a 5-0 win for PSG on May 21, hours after he had signed his new contract, finishing the season with a bang.

His huge goal tally meant he was named the Ligue 1 top scorer for a fourth straight season.

Kylian Mbappe 2020-21 stats

In the 2020-21 season, Mbappe scored 27 times from just 27 starts (31 total appearances) in Ligue 1, also contributing seven assists.

Once all competitions are taken into account, his figures look even better.

Mbappe played in a total of 47 games for PSG, with 41 of those being starts.

He netted an incredible 42 goals and added 11 assists.

Eight of those strikes came in the Champions League, which included a famous hat-trick against Messi and Barcelona in the last 16 of the competition.

PSG recorded a stunning 4-1 win at Camp Nou in February 2021, with Mbappe producing that memorable performance.

He also netted in the second leg as PSG progressed 5-2 on aggregate.

Two further crucial Mbappe goals came in the quarter-final win over Bayern Munich, but Manchester City ended PSG’s hopes of league glory, with injury limiting the forward’s availability in that tie.

There was disappointment for PSG as they missed out on the Ligue 1 title to Lille after Mauricio Pochettino had taken charge of the team.

But Mbappe did not end the season empty handed as he scored once and set up the other goal as PSG defeated Monaco 2-0 in in the Coupe de France final.
