Mbappe announcement imminent? Why Real Madrid will support Barca vs PSG

Barcelona can pave the way for Kylian Mbappe's official exit announcement by beating PSG in the Champions League.

It is football's worst-kept secret that the French megastar is leaving PSG at the end of the season. Mbappe will run down his contract and leave the Parisians on a free transfer.

It is a similarly open secret that the 25-year-old is heading to Real Madrid. Though there have been tenuous links to the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, it is clear that the only viable destination for Mbappe is the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite the fact that it has been known since February that the attacker won't be extending his PSG contract, nothing in the way of an official announcement has as yet materialised. This, it is thought, is due to the fact that the Ligue 1 side could still face Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Elimination from Europe's premier competition could mean that an official announcement on Mbappe's future will be made in the near future - and ironically it is Barcelona who hold the key to this transpiring.

Real Madrid supporting Barca in UCL

The Blaugrana head into their quarterfinal return fixture with PSG with a 3-2 advantage after a thrilling first leg that saw the Catalans come out on top at the Parc des Princes. Barcelona will back themselves to get the job done, though PSG will come out firing.

Real Madrid will be supporting their hated El Clasico rivals on this occasion as PSG crashing out of Europe could speed up the process of Mbappe signing for Los Blancos. Talks have been ongoing behind the scenes for some time but no official agreement has as yet been reached.

PSG again missing out on that one trophy that has proved so elusive and a subsequent announcement from Mbappe that he will leave this summer could be the final green light required for Real Madrid to complete this blockbuster transfer.
