Real Madrid will not send Arda Guler out on loan in January, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Turkish wonderkid has had a tough start to life at Real Madrid. The youngster arrived to plenty of fanfare at the Santiago Bernabeu given that Los Blancos not only beat hated rivals Barcelona to his signature but also because he only cost a relatively modest €20 million that can potentially rise to €30m.

Guler had burst onto the scene at Fenerbahce and quickly established himself as one of the most exciting talents in the world. The 18-year-old, however, has yet to feature for Los Blancos since leaving Istanbul due to rotten injury luck. After suffering a long-term meniscus injury in pre-season, Guler was hit with a heartbreaking setback on his return to training.

In November, he suffered a fresh fitness problem, though he is on the road back to full fitness. Still, the fact that he has not yet played a single competitive minute for Los Blancos means that it will likely take time for the teenager to get to grips with the style and to build chemistry with his teammates.

In light of this, rumours have surfaced that the youngster could be sent out on loan in January to help him get game time under his belt, but Fabrizio Romano has now poured cold water on these claims.

What did Romano say?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the transfer expert said: "For Arda Guler, I'm always receiving many questions about the possibility of a loan deal Arda Guler, who's been really unlucky with injuries. He's close to returning to normal activity with the first team after his recent injury."

"But from what I'm hearing, despite the rumours we're having about a potential loan to Turkish clubs, Real Madrid remain on their position: they don't want to touch the squad in January, including Arda Guler."

"So, at the moment, the idea of Real Madrid is to continue with Arda, is to protect and support Arda and to keep him as part of the first squad. No plans for a loan deal, at least this is the position today."

"We will see later this year, but as of today, Real Madrid are very clear: they want to keep all the important players they have in the squad, including Arda Guler because they support him, they back him and they trust him for the present and the future of the club."
