Chelsea ended the 2026 summer transfer window with a positive net spend thanks to a number of eye-catching sales before Deadline Day, and they are once again expected to be fairly active in January.

The Blues may wait until next summer before adding significant reinforcements to Xabi Alonso’s squad, but the rumour mill never stops and they have been linked with a host of players ahead of the upcoming winter window.

Brian Brobbey wanted

Brian Brobbey was on Chelsea’s radar ahead of the summer and they have sent scouts to continue watching his development this season, as per Simon Phillips.

The Netherlands international, who scored a hat-trick versus Manchester City on Sunday, has established himself as one of the most feared centre forwards in the Premier League since his move to Sunderland, and Chelsea’s interest therefore comes as no surprise.

However, having signed Danny Welbeck and Emmanuel Emegha over the summer, in addition to finalising a contract extension with Joao Pedro, a move for Brobbey seems slightly unlikely at this stage.

Morgan Gibbs-White ready to leave Nottingham Forest

Chelsea target Morgan Gibbs-White is ready to leave Nottingham Forest next summer, according to Football Insider.

It’s reported that Gibbs-White is happy to remain at the City Ground if they secure European football this season, but he will look to leave the club if they fail to achieve that goal.

Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for the England attacking midfielder over the summer and it’s understood that he is admired by a number of high-ranking recruitment staff at Stamford Bridge.

Francesco Camarda interest

Chelsea are keeping close tabs on AC Milan wonderkid Francesco Camarda amid his lack of game-time at San Siro so far this season.

That is according to TEAMtalk, who claim that Camarda is firmly on Chelsea’s radar as they continue their pursuit of the best young talents in world football.

The Italy U21 international signed a new contract at Milan in July, however he has only made two substitute appearances in Serie A this term and he could explore a possible exit next year if he fails to work his way into Ruben Amorim’s preferred XI.

January plan for Alex Scott revealed

Alex Scott remains Chelsea’s dream midfield signing and they are plotting a January move for the Bournemouth star, as per a report from CaughtOffside.

It’s understood that Bournemouth had no interest in allowing the England international to depart over the summer, despite his willingness to explore a Chelsea switch, but their stance may change in 2027.

A fee in excess of €100m will likely be required to tempt Marco Rose’s side into a sale, but Chelsea are ready to test Bournemouth’s resolve when the winter window opens.

Gabriel Bontempo scouting

Brazilian outlet Bolavip report that Chelsea scouts are continuing to monitor Santos midfielder Gabriel Bontempo ahead of potential move next year.

It’s understood that a fee worth around €12m would previously have been enough to secure a deal, but Santos are now prepared to delay a sale until they receive a more attractive offer.

Bontempo has scored five goals in 44 appearances so far this season and he has been rewarded with his first senior Brazil call-up for their upcoming fixtures versus Australia and India.

Tyrick Mitchell deal?

Chelsea have joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell, according to a shock update from TEAMtalk.

The 27-year-old has been a standout performer at Selhurst Park for several seasons and he has now reportedly emerged as a surprise target for Chelsea, despite the recent addition of Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano.

Man Utd currently appear to be the frontrunners in the race for Mitchell’s signature, but Chelsea are ready to challenge the Red Devils following his impressive start to the 2026-27 campaign.

Gjivai Zechiel latest

Feyenoord star Gjivai Zechiel is the latest midfielder to be added to Chelsea’s transfer wishlist, with TEAMtalk claiming that he is viewed as a potential replacement for the departed Enzo Fernandez.

Zechiel has reportedly caught the eye of the Chelsea scouting department, having scored five goals and provided four assists during the first seven games of the new Eredivisie season.

However, Chelsea will face strong competition in the race to secure his signature as Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur are also tracking his progress.
