And news of this bid appears to have scared off Tottenham, who had been rivalling Man Utd for Mbeumo's signature.

Indeed, according to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham have turned their attention to Cryatal Palace star Eberechi Eze instead of Mbeumo.

New Spurs boss Thomas Frank believes that Eze is much more attainable than Mbeumo and another target in Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo.

Eze will not come cheap as he will cost €80m, but Spurs are ready to go all-in for him.

This comes as good news for Man Utd, who now feel they are edging closer to completing a deal for Mbeumo.

Mbeumo has already agreed personal terms for a contract until 2030 with the option of another year until 2031.

The player wants to join Man Utd, and Brentford are not expected to stand in his way at the right price as his contract expires in one year - although there is the option to extend his deal by another year.

Mbeumo enjoyed a superb 2024-25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists.

Ruben Amorim plans to play Mbeumo behind a striker, but he can also feature out wide and as a centre-forward.

Man Utd have already confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha for a whopping €74 million, with the Brazilian expected to occupy one of the two No.10 positions in Ruben Amorim's side.
