Manchester United have made an improved bid for Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils were initially rebuffed by the Bees when they made their opening offer for the Cameroon international at the beginning of the month.

However, talks have been ongoing for several weeks now to find a solution, with Mbeumo clearly communicating to Brentford that he is keen on the move to Man Utd.

According to talkSPORT, Man Utd have submitted an improved offer for the 25-year-old, who remains their top attacking target following the acquisition of Matheus Cunha for €74 million.

The exact value of Man Utd's second bid is not known, but it is being reported that it has exceeded the €70m (£60m) mark, which is close to Brentford's asking price.

Man Utd to sign Mbeumo?

It remains to be seen if the Bees will accept the Red Devils' fresh offer, but the new proposal clearly signals that Man Utd are unwilling to give up on signing the versatile attacker.

There have been suggestions that Man Utd could walk away from the deal if they feel that Brentford's demands are excessive, but this point evidently has not yet been reached.

Given the limited budget currently at the disposal of the club's recruitment chiefs, they are keen to avoid the notorious 'Man Utd tax' and have put an internal valuation on every target, with the clear idea not to pay over the odds for players, no matter how vital they could be.

Tottenham are also in the mix for Mbeumo following the appointment of ex-Brentford Thomas Frank as their new head coach, but for now, the Cameroonian is still prioritising a move to Old Trafford.
