Fabrizio Romano confirms new €70m Man Utd bid for top target

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a new €70 million bid from Man Utd bid for Bryan Mbeumo.
United have been locked in negotiations with Brentford for their star attacker over the past month.

They had already had one bid of €65 million rejected by Brentford for the Cameroon international.
Romano has now confirmed that they have returned with a new improved offer that surpasses the €70m mark which they hope will now be accepted.
What did Romano say?
"Manchester United have submitted new proposal for Bryan Mbeumo who remains priority target," Romano said on X.
"The proposal was sent over the weekend and it’s in excess of £60m, discussions continue with Brentford.
"Mbeumo keeps giving priority to Man United."
Tottenham have entered the race for Mbeumo in the last week or so following the appointment as manager of former Brentford boss Thomas Frank.
But United are confident that Tottenham will not hijack their deal and that Mbeumo can become a Red Devil before or at the start of July.
Mbeumo has already agreed personal terms for a contract until 2030 with the option of another year until 2031.
The player wants to join Man Utd, and Brentford are not expected to stand in his way at the right price as his contract expires in one year - although there is the option to extend his deal by another year.
Mbeumo enjoyed a superb 2024-25 season, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists.
Ruben Amorim plans to play Mbeumo behind a striker, but he can also feature out wide and as a centre-forward.
Man Utd have already confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha for a whopping €74 million, with the Brazilian expected to occupy one of the two No.10 positions in Ruben Amorim's side.

The expert's opinion on Bryan Mbeumo to Man Utd
Premier League expert Cameron Smith says: “Mbeumo enjoyed the best season of his career in 2024-25, notching 20 goals and seven assists in 38 Premier League games.
“His tally of 9.3 expected assists was the highest of any player in the entire English top flight and, alongside Matheus Cunha, he will provide Man Utd with the attacking dynamism they have sorely missed in recent years.
“Furthermore, Mbeumo’s relationship with Amad Diallo - who is likely to be deployed as a right wing-back next term - could blossom into one of the best in Europe.”
