Mason Mount’s transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United has been virtually confirmed by Blues captain Thiago Silva.

Mount has reportedly agreed terms with the Old Trafford club over a summer move, with the expectation that Erik ten Hag’s side will now complete a deal for the midfielder to complete a move imminently.

It is widely known that Ten Hag wants his summer business done as quickly as possible – ideally before the start of pre-season – and that means completing the transfer in the next few weeks.

Everything looks on track for Mount to become a Man Utd player, despite stiff competition from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal to sign him.

Indeed, perhaps the biggest indication yet that the 24-year-old will join the Champions League-bound side came from Thiago Silva, who replied to a social media post announcing that Mount had agreed personal terms.

The Brazil international’s message is simple as he posted two crying emojis, with the clear indication that he is sad to see the former academy player depart amid a contract wrangle that appears unresolvable.

How much will Mount cost Man Utd?

Chelsea hope to raise around £70 million from the sale of Mount, which is an asking price that is thought to have put Liverpool off.

United, meanwhile, have yet to agree to a transfer fee for the player and will be trying to talk this number down given that Mount’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is around £62m (€72m).

Ten Hag plans to use the versatile midfielder as a No.8 to play alongside Casemiro, which is in contrast to how he has often been deployed for Chelsea this season. Nevertheless, the versatility that has seen him play as a No.10 and on the wing for the Blues will be a further selling point for the Man Utd boss.
