Arsenal make shock €75m Real Madrid bid - and it's NOT for Rodrygo
Arsenal have made a shock €75 million proposal for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, suggest Defensa Central.
The Gunners have splashed out over €200m on new players this summer, bringing in the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke.
Arsenal still plan to make another big signing before the end of the transfer window but the next arrival was expected to be a left sided outside attacker.
Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo have been the two most suggested names, but Defensa Central suggests Arsenal are moving for another Real Madrid star.
Tchouameni to Arsenal
The report states that Arsenal have made a €75m proposal to Real Madrid fopr Tchouameni through an intermediary.
Arsenal are said to have informed Madrid they are prepared to pay big money for the France central midfielder.
However, the report adds that Madrid have made it known that they are not interested in selling the player and that Xabi Alonso considers him key to his plans.
Madrid were linked to selling Tchouameni earlier in the year in order to bring in a central midfielder with better creativity and ball-playing skills to replace him.
Following the retirement of Toni Kroos a year ago, Madrid have lacked a ball-playing central midfielder who can construct and dictate the play from deep.
But the exit of Carlo Ancelotti as coach appears to have changed any plans to sell Tchouameni.
Tchouameni, 25, moved to the Santiago Bernabeu three years ago from Monaco for €100m.
Tchouameni has made 146 appearances since joining Real Madrid from AS Monaco, scoring five goals and winning seven major trophies.
