Transfer Rumours: Ethan Nwaneri decision as Man Utd open talks
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 30 August, including the latest updates on Ethan Nwaneri, Ian Maatsen and Igor Paixao.
Nwaneri wants England stay
Arsenal wonderkid Ethan Nwaneri is not keen on a transfer abroad, Sky Sports reports.
The 19-year-old endured a difficult loan spell in the second half of last season and wants to stay in the Premier League this summer. He has fielded interest from clubs on the continent, but he wants to avoid a move outside of England.
In fact, despite not having game time guarantees and there being a widespread expectation that he will leave Arsenal, Nwaneri could stay put unless an attractive Premier League offer emerges in the final days of the window.
Man Utd make Maatsen enquiry
Man Utd have enquired about Aston Villa defender Ian Maatsen, as per Pete O'Rourke.
The Red Devils are looking to sign a left-back before the deadline and are exploring several potential options after being told by Newcastle that Lewis Hall is not for sale.
Maatsen has become the latest target for the club, although it is not clear how Villa or the player responded to the interest. Man Utd are believed to favour short-term loan solutions rather than big-money permanent signings at this stage of the window.
Arsenal opportunity for Paixao?
Sunderland are exploring alternative options as their pursuit of Marseille winger Igor Paixao stalls, Foot Mercato understands.
The Black Cats have an agreement on personal terms with the Brazilian, but Marseille are playing hardball over a transfer fee as they would prefer to keep Paixao. As a result, Sunderland are now showing an interest in Lyon winger Malick Fofana.
This could create an opportunity for Arsenal, who were linked with Paixao earlier this week in their search for a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli. The Gunners could perhaps offer Marseille a better deal for the attacker.
Jesus offered to Atleti
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has been offered to Atletico Madrid, Matteo Moretto states.
The Brazilian is expected to leave the Gunners in the final days of the window, but a transfer to Napoli has not progressed recently due to the Serie A side's inability to offload their unwanted forwards.
Jesus has now been proposed as a potential option for Atletico Madrid, which is interesting in the context of Arsenal's ongoing pursuit of Julian Alvarez. Thus far, the Argentine has not opened the door to a move to London, however.
Chelsea bullish over Camara deal
Chelsea are growing confident of snapping up AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Formal talks have started with the Ligue 1 outfit in a bid to agree a deal for the Senegal international. Monaco would prefer to keep him, but they sense that Chelsea will make a strong push.
It is believed that the principality club are demanding a fee in the region of €60m. If Chelsea meet their demands, they will have no choice but to cash in, with CEO Thiago Scuro admitting this week that Monaco are a "selling club."
