Maatsen enquiry

Man Utd have enquired about Aston Villa defender Ian Maatsen in their search for a new left-back, as per Pete O'Rourke.

The Netherlands international has emerged on the Red Devils' radar amid their struggles to bolster their defensive options. Man Utd have been told by Newcastle that top target Lewis Hall is not for sale, forcing them to consider alternatives.

It is believed that Man Utd are likely to bring a new left-back in on loan before the deadline, but it is not clear what kind of response they received to their enquiry for Maatsen.

Diallo swap?

Meanwhile, 225Foot claims that Aston Villa have made a "concrete offer" for Man Utd winger Amad Diallo.

The Ivorian has been frustrated with his game time under Michael Carrick, and while Man Utd are believed to be keen to keep hold of Amad, suitors are emerging. Villa's interest is intriguing in the context of the Red Devils' enquiry about Maatsen.

Could a swap deal be on the cards? It seems unlikely given that Villa are set to sign PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye, who plays in the same position as Diallo, which suggests that it will be one or the other rather than both.

Sorloth considered

Man Utd are considering the opportunity to swoop for Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth, CaughtOffside writes.

The Norwegian has been offered to the Old Trafford club amid uncertainty over the future of Joshua Zirkzee. Should the Dutchman leave, Man Utd would look to bring in a replacement.

However, as with the left-back situation, Man Utd are believed to prefer a "try-before-you-buy" solution, whereas Atleti would seek an outright sale this summer for a fee in the region of €35 million.

Rashford still not keen on Turkey

Man Utd winger Marcus Rashford remains unwilling to consider a move to Turkey, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The England star was the subject of interest from Galatasaray earlier this summer, and there are now fresh links with Fenerbahce. However, Rashford has no interest in moving to the Super Lig at this stage of his career.

While Man Utd are still open to offers, Rashford is operating under the assumption that he will stay at Old Trafford this summer after Barcelona decided against making his loan permanent.

Scanlon joins Arsenal

Man Utd winger James Scanlon has completed a permanent transfer to Arsenal.

A senior Gibraltar international, the 19-year-old failed to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils during his five years at the club. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Swindon, playing six League Two games.

Arsenal have now announced that he has joined the club's academy setup. He leaves Man Utd with more than a century of games played across various youth levels.
