Rashford set to stay at Man Utd this summer

Marcus Rashford is set to stay at Man Utd this summer despite late interest from Fenerbahce, according to BBC Sport’s Simon Stone.

Stone understands all parties are preparing for the England international to remain at Old Trafford ahead of the transfer window closing next Tuesday (1 September).

Rashford was a second-half substitute in the 2-0 Premier League loss at Hull City last Saturday - his first competitive appearance for United since December 2024.

The 28-year-old has returned to the club after spending last season on loan at Barcelona, with whom he won the La Liga title.

Arsenal hold an interest in signing Rashford

United are bracing themselves for a late offer from Arsenal to take Rashford on loan, according to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney.

Delaney claims the Gunners are weighing up the move as Gabriel Martinelli edges closer to joining Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

Arsenal are looking to solidify their chances of retaining their Premier League title by making a marquee signing up top.

Mikel Arteta's side have made Julian Alvarez their top target but the striker would prefer to join Barcelona - despite Atletico Madrid ruling out a sale to their La Liga rivals.

Collyer heading to West Brom on permanent basis

United have agreed a deal with West Bromwich Albion that will see Toby Collyer join the Championship side on a permanent basis, according to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell.

Carrick’s men will receive a guaranteed €3.5m (£3m) with add-ons potentially taking the figure to €8.8m (£7.6m), while a 40 per cent sell-on clause has also been included.

Whitwell understands most of the add-ons are achievable, though some relate to West Brom reaching the Premier League and Europe, and Collyer representing England.

Hull City and Middlesbrough are also believed to have made offers for the 22-year-old midfielder but he has chosen West Brom as the best place to further his development.

Red Devils monitoring loan market for left-back

United are exploring the loan market in their quest to sign a new left-back before deadline day, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-time league champions have previous form in this regard having temporarily acquired Sergio Reguilon on the final day of the 2023 summer transfer window.

United have been linked with several left-backs this summer including Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde, though a deal remains unlikely.

The Times claims Spanish heavyweights Barcelona value Balde at €40.9million (£35m) but United’s preference would be to sign the 22-year-old on loan.

In a new video on YouTube, Romano said: “I think it could be busy for Man United in this final four or five days of the window because I can guarantee to you that Manchester United are still looking for a solution at left-back.

“So Man United are working to sign a new left-back. I would not be surprised if they end up with a solution for a player who can be almost a guarantee.

"So maybe not a superstar name like Balde because they considered Balde. They had a call with [his agent] Jorge Mendes one week ago, but the deal is too expensive.

“Transfer fee, salary, too expensive. United are not going to do that, at least for now. Then if they change [their stance] I will let you know. But just as a comparison, do you remember when Man United signed Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham on loan?

“Obviously I’m not saying [United could sign] Reguilon [again] but that kind of player, [an] experienced left-back who can provide competition, who can also be an international profile.”

Amass could still leave Old Trafford

The future of United youngster Harry Amass remains up in the air after manager Michael Carrick said he will “see what happens” regarding the left-back.

Academy graduate Amass is being strongly linked with a move away but Carrick was tight-lipped when asked about the 19-year-old on Friday.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash against Ipswich Town, Carrick said: “We try and do the best for each individual player while keeping the group strong.

"We’ve been really pleased with Harry, he had a really good [last] season [with Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City] that didn't end so well with the injury [but] he’s done really well in pre-season.”

Carrick’s side mulling over Zirkzee offer

United are yet to decide whether to accept Fiorentina’s loan offer for Joshua Zirkzee, according to transfer insider Romano.

Fiorentina are believed to have made a bid which includes a €5m (£4.2m) loan fee and the option to make the move permanent next summer.

Netherlands striker Zirkzee joined United from Italian outfit Bologna for €42.5m (£35.8m) in July 2024, with the striker signing a five-year contract.

However, the 25-year-old has struggled to impress when given a rare opportunity to shine, scoring just nine goals in 75 appearances.
