Transfer Rumours: Morgan Rogers battle heats up as Chelsea agree deal
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 6 July, including the latest updates on Morgan Rogers and Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli.
Morgan Rogers battle heats up
Liverpool and Manchester United have both joined Arsenal in the race to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, as per transfer insider IndyKaila.
The England international has a price tag of at least €140 million and the battle for his signature is expected to continue throughout the course of the summer transfer window.
FootballTransfers understand that Arsenal are the frontrunners to sign Rogers this summer, but Liverpool and Man Utd are ready to rival the Gunners for his signature.
Chelsea agree deal
Chelsea have finalised scholarship terms with talented academy star Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli, according to transfer news expert David Ornstein.
The 16-year-old is regarded as one of the best talents in England and Chelsea have moved quickly to agree fresh terms with the teenager in a bid to ward off interest from numerous top clubs across Europe.
Nicoll-Jazuli, who has already trained with the Blues first-team, is understood to have turned down approaches from abroad and he has signed a scholarship deal at Chelsea, as per Ornstein. He is expected to move onto a professional contract when he turns 17 years old in January 2027.
Man Utd want Andrey Santos
Man Utd have reportedly rekindled their interest in Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos following their failure to sign Mateus Fernandes.
Man Utd were linked with a possible move for Santos last summer and they have now rekindled their interest in the 22-year-old, who is reportedly open to leaving Chelsea this summer due to competition for places in west London.
It’s understood that Xabi Alonso’s side are willing to listen to offers for Santos and The Guardian. report that he is valued at around €58 million (£50m), with Newcastle United also keeping tabs on his situation.
Man Utd’s interest in the Brazil midfielder has been confirmed by both David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, with Santos potentially set to depart Stamford Bridge this summer.
Celtic chase Alfie Devine
Celtic have reportedly accelerated talks over a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Championship outfit Preston North End, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 45 league matches, and he is expected to secure a permanent transfer this summer.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side were keen to trigger their €7 million option-to-buy clause following Devine’s excellent loan stint, but the 1 July deadline has now passed, which has given Celtic renewed hope of finalising a deal to bring him to Glasgow this summer.
Glasgow Times report that Celtic are “accelerating” talks with Spurs over a deal for Devine, and Martin O’Neill is understood to have undertaken a scouting mission during a visit to Preston in May.
However, Celtic are set to face significant competition for the 21-year-old, with Wolverhampton Wanderers among the clubs interested in signing him following their relegation from the Premier League.
Alex Scott latest
Man Utd have been informed that Bournemouth have no interest in selling Alex Scott before the end of the 2026 summer transfer window.
That is according to BBC Sport and Ben Jacobs, who report that Scott is valued at around €93 million (£80m).
Bournemouth are hopeful that Scott will sign a new contract at the club and they could be willing to include a release clause in the deal, like they did with Antoine Semenyo last summer before his winter move to Man City.
